Inside of cervix growing on the outside??

I have just returned from my doctors after going to him with the complaint of very uncomfortable sex with my partner. This pain is something that has occured over the last 6 months and has not always happened with my boyfriend. The doctor examined me and told me that the inside of my cervix is growing on the outside of my cervix. I was not allowed to have a smear test as I am due one in August and have to wait until then. I am so worried this is going to lead to cervical cancer. My doctor did not fully explain what is up with me and I was hoping somebody could help? I am 24. I would like to know what this is called, will it lead to cervical cancer and should i stop having sex?? Any help would be useful as i am very concerned.

I do not know if you ever received an answer to this question, but I have the same issue. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had surgery to remover adhesions. My cervix still "looks angry" according to my gyno, she kept thinking I had an infection, she literally tested me for everything including cervical cancer. It was none of those things, basically the interior wall of your cervix just extends onto the outer portion, and since it is much more sensitive, you bleed easily and can become sore. It doesn't go away, at least mine hasn't.

Are you still dealing with this, please give any updates you may have.
