10 year old cantral & obstructive sleep apnea

My son was diagnosed about a year ago & wears a CPAP ( hard to get one to fit correctly on small child) and he does well with the machine. I was wondering if central apnea goes away or what causes it? His adenoids are out & his tonsils aren't enlarged but he has low muscle tone that probably contributes to the obstructive apnea.

Your son's central sleep apnea is probably related to whatever neurologic condition is also causing low muscle tone. There's no good explanation for central sleep apnea. Glad to hear that your son is doing well with CPAP.
