looking for people taking the reformulated armour

Hi everyone. i am new to all of this. My ordeal began in January 2010.....I crashed with extreme fatigue etc....most classic symptoms of hypo and was put on synthroid. TSH went from 5ish down to 1.8....by that time i was taking 100mg of synthroid and 5 mcg of cytomel. Felt pretty good but not 100 % My primary had not checked for antbodies etc......,After educating them on what I had researched.....he ran athe antithyroglobulin and tpo....antithyro, came back high.....tpo border line but normal. Did i mention I had to suggest they do an ultrasound of my thyroid? well a  small solid nodule was found.  Decided to go to an endo.  which allowed to try the Armour, put me on 90 mg (1 1/2) grains....I switched from one day to another and it was ok, I started getting some feelings of hypo tired fatugue cranky? so began taking 1/4 grain more. I got worse. Three weeks later  do my labs and my tsh is now .23.....my free t3 was a little high too. So it seems I am now Hyper with the armour. I stopped the 1/4 extra. The doctor told me to remain on 90 and retest. Help I really felt awful on the overload.....Is that enough of a cut back? i am aiming for tsh 1. Should i return to synthroid altogether? Oh very important, yesterday I went in for the biopsy FNA.....they claim it dissappeared! They are not sure if it was an error (never had it) or vanished. I nunderstand i am bombarding you all with all of it. I have spent hours on end on the computer trying to figure out what is wrong......My Drs. cant even answer about the antibodies. My primary saod Hashi? the other said possibly i had graves at some point in my life.....b/c my tpo came back border not high. Does anyone outthere have any answer to any of all these issues. Thanks.

Also, you may want to contact user stella5349 on this website.  I know that she was taking Armour and could probably answer your questions regarding that medication and much more....she's very knowledgeable and helpful.  She belongs to the Thyroid Disorders forum.  ...LOTS of good people on that forum as well.

Hi!
Your story sounds a bit similar to mine.  I started out with Graves disease when I was about 20 years old.  It quickly went into remission, and about 15 years later I had this rush of horrible nuerological symptoms, etc. and was tested and found that I had very high antibodies for both Graves and Hashi's at the same time.

I have never taken Armour, although my mother was on Armour for the longest time until they stopped making it.  She's allergic to Synthroid, so they have her on something else, and I'm not sure the name of it.  She did very well with Armour and was disappointed they took it off the market.  She did end up having issues with hypercalcemia, but not sure if that can be related at all.

It didn't take too long for me to get my meds adjusted, but I do take an odd dosage of Synthroid.  I take 75 mcg daily with an extra 1/2 pill on Saturdays, and since then I am good.  Some people take longer to adjust, and it's a horrible roller coaster.  My only advice is to keep on your doctor to adjust brand names and/or dosage amounts until YOU feel optimal.  Only you know when your levels are perfect.  Don't allow your doctor to say your levels are in the "normal" range and blow you off.  It happens way too often.  If it happens to you, find another Endo who will work with you.  It's their job!

Let me know if you have any further questions, etc.  Good luck to you!!
