Thanks! I had no clue since we haven't had to do any infertility.
Reproductive Endocrinologist= Is an infertility Dr. That handles, IVF,IUI'S all areas involving infertile women.
What does RE mean? I'm sorry I'm not up on all of these abbreviations
I personally had my U/S at 5 wks 5 days no hb no fetal pole just a sac....3 days later there was a HB and my little peanut measuring just perfect. A few days make a big difference.
I agree with the ladies. Go for the u/s. I did. I was not seeing an RE but I was offered an u/s at a local clinic and I took it for peace of mind. I was 6w6d and we got to see the heartbeat. My dr office wont do the u/s unitl 10 weeks. Trust me you will never get tired of seeing your baby no matter how many u/s's you have.
Good luck.
6w3d should be late enough to see a heartbeat with a transvaginal. If its still a little too early, they can still see the sac and make sure everything is going like it should. If you don't see a heartbeat, you have to come back in a week. My appointment with RE is at 7weeks so I should see a hb by then.
The main benefit will be peace of mind for two weeks if you see a hb. To me, the earlier the better.
Thanks for responding. I really want to do the ultrasound but just keep wondering what they are going to be able to tell me for sure? If the heart isn't beating yet, or its not measureing right or can't be seen, will i just have to come back for another ultrasound in a week? Is the main benefit just to know if its eptopic or not? What have they told you at these early ultrasounds? Thanks again!
I'm kind in the same boat as conceived naturally this month, but still going to do an u/s at RE because I can go in earlier. Already have OB one scheduled for 2 weeks later and will probably do that one too. However, I do have a history of miscarriage, but would probably do the same thing if I didn't.
