Jasper Finn is here!

Jasper arrived January 12th at 11:45am. I had an amazing natural birth. I had early labor for almost 48 hours which was difficult but I survived. My active labor was almost 12 hours. Most of my active labor was in a birthing tub at a midwife run birthing center. I couldn't stand to be out of the water. Gravity made everything so much harder. I attempted one time to labor in a bed and I have to say...no wonder women need epidurals in the hospital! If I had to labor in bed, there is no way I would have made it. Alas, I delivered him semi-squatting. I was going to deliver him in the water but his heart rate dropped a bit when I was pushing so they moved me out of the water to push. I pushed for 25 minutes and then he came out all at once. No tears or anything like that. He is perfect and healthy in every way. We are so in love with our son! We came home 3 hours after delivery and have been getting to know each other ever since. He weighed in at 7lbs 7oz and is 19" long. He has a full head of hair and looks JUST LIKE his Daddy. It's ridiculous how much they look alike.

Thank you all for sharing this journey with me. I am so excited to hear of all of your baby arrivals. I really feel connected to you all.

Much Love,
Sarah

Congratulations! He's gorgeous. Lovely birth story! I had my first 2 at a birth centre run by midwives and had a similar experience to yours... although the second was a lot quicker (3 hours of active labour compared to 14 hours for the first)! I know what you mean about being on a bed, I delivered my first squatting and my second on all fours! I also didn't tear and went home shortly after delivery! I am still experiencing pain from my c-section I had to have with my third- that was over 2 weeks ago. I honestly can't believe people choose to have a c-section when there is no need for one... but each to their own I guess. Well done on your beautiful boy, love the name too xx
