sorry you are feeling so bad, but you should never have stopped taking your meds without the doctor knowing..now you must consult your gp or your psych..I'm afraid you will have unwanted side effects, but try and go with them its just the sudden withdrawal of the meds. I really hope you sort this out soon, and feel better, maybe you just need to stop the lithium. take care
.
Hi, I was wondering how you are making out now? I hope you got back on your meds or different meds as soon as possible? These medications are serious and you can't stop taking them even if you feel bad. It's very dangerous. If your not feeling right or not good, speak up to your Doctor & speak loudly if need be. This is your life hon. I tell this to my 24 yr old son who has schizoaffective disorder, he has had & still is having a hard time with the meds. They either make him to flat, groggy, non feeling, depressed, or they stop working or cause a medical issue like depakote, it raised his Amonia levels in his blood which causes serious problems. Believe me I know how incredibly hard this disease is to fight & manage but you need your meds, especially for your child, you could become very manic, pschychotic, paranoid, delusional ect & do things that you wouldn't normally do under medication & you could maybe loose your child or anything could happen. Please take your meds & let me know how you & your child are doing. I'll be praying for both of you
You should of never just stopped your medications without consulting your doctor. No wonder you are going through all this. I hope by now you have called your psychiatrist to discuss what was happening to you on the meds. Hopefully you are on something because you need it. It's best for you and your child. I am on Lithium and Manerix and am well now but before I was not healthy. It just to find the right meds for you and then you should feel fine. Don't give up hope, it takes time. Hope this helps you. Take care. Smileyhappy.
Hey freephoenix.
Welcome to the forum.
There are 2 issues to deal with.
One, the withdrawal symptoms, like the ones you have now.
Two, the symptoms of your condition, which were managed somewhat
by your medication.
The question is how safe is it for you and your child?
Schizoaffective Disorder is a perplexing mental disorder
and the prescribing psych doctor is the one to suggest changes
to your meds. Please consider to get in touch with him for this!
You may want to look into holistic psychotherapy to help you
understand and cope with this illness, set goals and manage life's problems related
to your condition a little better.
Please post again if you have any questions or for support.
Blessings,
