4 year olds swollen lymph node

my 4 year old son has an extremly swollen lymph node behind his ear. It started out 1 week ago and was pea sized and now it is a lot larger and red on the outside. He started out with amoxicillain went to cephlix and now they added septra along with it but not getting any better. What should I do?

My daughters doctor gave her NAC supplement, and in 6 weeks she recovered, and did get one more time since then and used one more round, and didnt get any more last 2 years. NAC helps lyph nodes to clean out.

thanks so much his ears nose and thoart doc is seeing him on the 8th and said he will run blood work on him because he is having srgery on the 15th so hope everything turns out well there and on everything else going on with this little one.

Thats good he should still go back to the doctor and tell him about the tick , he may want to do a test for Lyme once the anti biotic is out of his system .,

the tick was on the back and the swollen lymph node is ehind his ear but it is starting to get a little bit smaller now so hopefully he will be healing up soon at least I hope and pray he is.

Was the tick in the same place ..once this infection disappears I would advise you to ask for a Lyme Disease test,it may be aswell to wait a few weeks though as he is having anti biotics with this in mind I would say take him back and mention the tick bite to the doctor the two in my opinion are connected . .

no cold he got a temp of a 100.0 gave tylnol and it did not come back but that happen after the swelling got larger. He had a rash and where the lump is behind his ear he opened the rash up got it infected I cleared that up then this. He was on steroids because of the rash then my mother in law informed me that she pulled a tick out of him about 8 days before the lump and a cople of days before the rash. We thought the rash was posion ivy do to my hsband and oldest son had it.

As he is on anti biotics its a waiting game you have to finish the whole course.If it is the same or worse take him back to the doctor for further evaluation .It does sound like infection, has he a cold and fever ?
