What my ultrasound result means

My abdominal ultrasound result says: "The anteverted uterus remains normal in size with heterogenous myometrial and endometrial parenchymal echotexture. It (the uterus) measures 6.19 x 4.62 x 5.03 cm. The ovaries are not visualized, probably atropic. There are no masses in the adnexae. The posterial cul-de-sac is unremarkable....Transvaginal ultrasound and clinical correlation are recommended."

I think the original poster meant transabdominal pelvic ultrasound, not abdominal ultrasound. Transabdominal pelvic ultrasound evaluates the pelvic organs by placing the probe outside the patient on the skin. On the other hand, transvaginal ultrasound evaluates the pelvic organs by placing the probe inside the patient in the vagina.

It means that your uterus is is tilted slightly towards the bladder.

The ovaries not being visual and probably atropic means that the ovaries have shrunk or are smaller than normal.

Cul de sac is unremarkable means nothing out of the ordinary is seen.

The average sized uterus is about 3 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 1 inch thick

I am going to tell you right now it sounds like your ovaries are wrapped around your uterus, that is why they cant see them and why your uterus is bigger.  That is what happened to me. Its called kissing ovaries which is a sign of a higher grade of endometriosis.

I am surprised that they didnt to a transvaginal ultrasound, did you go in to see your doctor for stomach pain?

Clinical correlation means that after you get your TVUS they will compare it to your US to see the differences.

This just my opinion as I am no doctor just someone who likes to read US reports for stuff like this and someone who suffers with Stage IV endo :)

If you need any help with anything let me know

Is polycystic right ovary bad? Or with nega effect to get pregnant?

Appreciate if someone here help me understand fully the result of TVU

The uterus is anteverted with regular comtour and homogegenous echopattern measuring 4.53x4.25x2.78cm.The cervix measure 2.79x 2.89cm with distinct endocervical canal and homogenous stroma.

The endometrium is isoechoic with a thickness of 0.42cm
It has uniform echogenicity non defined endometrial midline, regular endometrial border and negative color flow.

The right ovary measures 3.32x1.89x1.63cm.it is normal in size with normal echotexture.

Thanks for concern people here who could possibly help me understand these TVU results.
Some women with polycystic ovaries can have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, but others don't have that - you'll need to talk to your doctor about that.

If you don't have PCOS, this can just be a normal thing that happens, and may not affect anything. Why did you get the TVU? Were you having pain? Trying to diagnose something while TTC?

The only thing that stands out is your uterus being anteverted. That means it tilts forward. Unless it's tilted really far, it doesn't mean much. If it was extreme, they probably would have mentioned that.

The endometrium thickness varies depending on where you are in your cycle.

The first thing I'd talk to your doctor about is the possibility of PCOS. You may not have it, but if you are trying to conceive, it would be good to know.
