Dizziness when falling asleep

Sometimes I have a weird dizziness when I lay down and start to fall asleep. I will be closing my eyes for about 2 to 4 mins. then I almost feel like I am spinning in my head then I open my eyes with my head still in the same position and everything is fine. Then my heart beats super fast, my legs shake, and I get really cold and hot at the same time.

I have major anxiety issues ( fear of being dizzy)
I have been to and ENT and a Balance specialist and they both said I had nothing wrong with me.
Occasionally when I would bend my head over I would be dizzy then I move my head back up and its fine. This is not BPPV because it does not happen everyday for a week or something its sporadic and it hasn't happened in over a year.

The sleeping dizziness happened a few weeks ago before I was about to fly home. I hate flying and such a huge fear, so I figured it was anxiety.

My neck also hurts for over 2 years now and I have been to 2 physical therapists and they said my neck is very tight and one said I had c4 and c5 out of place. So maybe that could be causing me to be dizzy when I move my neck.

PLEASE HELP ME. I hate falling asleep like this and I am STILL worried I have an inner ear disorder that is going to present itself later in life. I am very worried. Please someone help me.

To overcome dizziness, vertigo and balance problems do this breathing technique for 20 minutes, twice a day.Anyone reading this, please post your progress, so others may benefit.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

I am very sorry to hear that this is happening to you but also relieved to know that I am not alone in this.  I wake up frequently in the night feeling like I am spinning or dizzy.  Unlike you, I have not gone to an ENT but probably should do so.  I have been diagnosed with Vertigo and tend to get dizzy feelings during the day as well but most occur at night just after I drift off to sleep.  I thought I was having nightmares at first or maybe I am waking up in full blown panic...either way, it is an awful way to wake up.  Please keep me posted if you learn of any techniques or tests to have and I will do the same.  I hope you get better soon!

Do not alarm,i had this problem to. Every single time when closed my eyes, the room start to spin and a wierd feeling in my stomach like i was terible drunk,or in a rollercoster. You need a combination of vitamine b shots. If you try to take oraly, trust me,it's not gonna work. B1,b6,b12(i dont remember the quantity of vials) all in a syringe and twice a day. In the morning and in the evening. I`m from romania and i don't know exactly how are the B Vitamines in US but here are in vials of: B1 100ml,b6 250ml,and b12 250ml. I think this was the combo of the shots i did the doctor for 5 days. The shots are not to bad(hurts only slightly),and after first 2 shots intramuscular,i never had dizzines. I did the shots 5 years ago. All of you who has problems with dizzines with eyes closed or other kinds of vertigo, dizzines, balance problems and never find the treatment, trust me,This is the treatment. B1,B6 and B12 all in 1 syringe twice a day. These injections you can do up 2 weeks but the b6 must be lower(100ml) if you do for 2 weeks. In romania this is a revolutions in treatment of dizzines and vertigo. I must say i  can not believe how many cases of vertigo and dizzines could not be solved in a country with such a great medicale centers. I hope that i was helpful. Sorry for my english. If you have questions, ask. I wish you a speedy recovery. This is not anxiety. Anymay For b6 intramuscular is the cure for depresion and anxiety but no doctor will tell you that because is a huge industry of antidepresives and a lots of many. Everyone say that ssri meds are the solution but is not,and i say that because i had depresion in the past (2 years ago) and i tried 4 antidepresive and never felt good at all. We were not born with with prozac or xanax or zoloft in our sistem and felt wanderfull before. I took 4 days of 250ml of b6 shots after the dizzines that i suffered and quess what? NO DEPRESION OR ANXIETY ANYMORE. I did the shots of b6 with b1 and b12 because i knew that was good for me. Sorry again for my english

Hello and hope you are doing well.

You could go for the balance tests, just to be sure that the dizziness is not related to inner ear problems. Sometimes blood tests, a CT and MRI and audiology tests can further help with diagnosis.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Thanks for responding. So do you think it could be anxiety? I have been to ENT's and they looked in my ears and asked all these questions but I never went for those balance tests...where they put water or air your ear, but they didn't think it was very necessary. They did say I could do it, but since it makes you dizzy I didn't want to. So do you think that it isn't my ear? Im so worried still that I am developing and inner ear problem that will become present like later in life?? or do you think anxiety could cause these symptoms?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Understand your predicament. As inner ear causes and neurological causes have been ruled out for the dizziness, it could sometimes occur due to hypoglycemia. Inadequate sleep can also cause tiredness, fatigue and dizziness. Another cause for these symptoms could be due to postural hypotension, where in upon standing blood pooling occurs in the legs and the brain is deprived of adequate blood supply and oxygenation. This is more common in the elderly and in people with diabetes mellitus. Discuss this with your consulting doctor.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
