Newborn with High Lactic Acid in the blood

My baby girl was born on October 4 she had problem with her oxygen so they send her to St.Vincents children hospital. When she was 2 days old they test her blood and found she had Lactic Acid in her blood pretty high level too it was a 16 teen. She had to go on a ventilator she was given something called bicarbs and they got it to go down to a 2 and a 5 then at 6 days old they decided it was time to feed her they started her on breast milk, the next day her levels went from 5 to a 12 she had to go back on the ventilator stoped the feedings then they just kept going up. They transferred her from their to Riley hospital the next day on the 15th at midnight when they checked her levels it was 20 super high. Then shortly after I lost my beautiful baby girl. I don't understand she was born a healthy weight at 8.11 she was perfect. A month later all of her test came back and they couldn't diagnosed her with any certain disorder just that she couldn't handle any types of food, they said what ever she ate would of poisoned her. They said they never seen a cause like hers. And I can't find any similar story on the internet either. So please if anybody has a similar story and would like to talk to someone email me at ***@****. Please I don't care if its 2yrs later I would love to have someone with a similar story to talk too.

I comented already and I had a reason to be scared. My daughter died at 4 months in March 2017. I now have a diagnosis in October 2018. She had a mitochondrial condition.  There is no name for it yet but the genetic specialists call the DNA strand TSFM. There are only a handful of babies having this. If anyone has had a child with TSFM please respond.

Hi there. I am glad i have found you. But to be honest....your post scares me a bit. My daughter is 3 months old and has high lactate. Unexplained. It goes up and down. Mostly goes down when she has less milk. Goes high when she has more milk and drinks well. She also has atrial ectopic tachycardia. But apparently it is a completely separate issue from her lactate. My daughters highest lactate has been a 12.5. Im scared that it will go higher. Im scared that metabolic and geneticists still havent found any answers. So far we are at home. But that can change at any moment. Your email is blocked so i cant email you. Im so sorry for your loss. I cant ever imagine what loosing your child would be like...but i do understand your confusion and desperate need to understand what happened and why. X

Hi there I've just been researching because 8 weeks ago I lost my perfect little baby girl at 6 days old. I bought her home a healthy baby but she wouldn't feed they encouraged me to feed her with a syringe but she became dangerously poorly when she started taking milk. She was on life support for 6 days and lost her battle. The doctors couldn't pin point what it was a post mortem has been done and they said it could take up to 3 months to get results but the chances are we won't know what was wrong. This breaks my heart so much I need to know what was wrong with my baby girl I go out my mind trying to find answers. I don't think il ever have closure if I don't and I'm worried if I have more children this will happen again. I'm so sorry to read about your loss it's devastating. But you seem to have a very similar situation to mine. I can see your post dates a few years back now I'm just wondering if you ever did find anything? X
