Latent Autoimmune Diabetes

Latent Autoimmune Diabetes is an extremely urgent condition. Like Type 2 Diabetes, people with LADA do represent with insulin resistance. However, the condition is autoimmune, like Type 1. People with Latent Autoimmune carry the exact same complication risk as those with Type 2-stroke, heart attacks and heart disease. Contrary to popular beliefs, some people who have LADA ARE overweight or obese. Furthermore, some people do carry family history of diabetes, regardless of the actual type. Latent Autoimmune usually begins between age 21 to 65, and carries serious issues like any other Diabetes.

Just to clarify, LADA is a slow onset type 1 diabetes.  It is autoimmune in nature.  It is often misdiagnosed as type 2, which can be very serious, as the appropriate treatment for LADA is also injected insulin if BG are not able to be kept on target.l

Hey guys and gals: Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults usually begins with insulin resistance. LADA is usually diagnosed in people 20 years or older; many people are misdiagnosed with type 2 diabetes due to their weight, age and race. Also, contrary to popular belief, family history of diabetes (regardless of the type) is sometimes there with LADA diabetics. But LADA diabetics might not have as high a family history of type 2 as the type 2 diabetics.

Considering the fact some people carrying Latent Autoimmune Diabetes are overweight or obese, weight loss can improve the sensitivity to insulin. Unlike Type 2 diabetes, however, just about all with LADA will need to eventually take insulin (whereas only between 12 and 23 percent of actual Type 2 diabetics do). Latent Autoimmune Diabetes of Adults starts off with its treatment strongly similar to that of T2DM; within 3 to 14 years after diagnosis, however, those who have LADA will have to eventually take insulin. Latent Autoimmune Diabetes can be managed by exercise, weight loss (for some) and a proper diet. This condition has been also called as Type 1.5 (one and a half) Diabetes by other Diabetes specialists. LADA is obviously different from Type 1 because LADA begins very slowly.
