I think I'm depressed..

Hi, I'm 16 and lately I've been in a very bad mood.  I take everything as an insult. I get irritated very easily and I've been really moody. I'm not eating breakfast and I rarely eat my lunch and dinner. I eat only when I'm out at a restaurant. My parents have been putting a lot of pressure on me for choosing my career and stuff. They yell at me everyday for nothing or sometimes because I don't eat. Now they're saying I look like a "dried up pig".I have no reason to smile anymore and I have no idea what to do with my life. I think I need help.

Beware of your own self-talk, understand your weaknesses to be improved on and associate with positive people. There is always room for self-improvement. Focus on the things you did right so as to enable you focus on doing those things again and that are congruent to your core values and this enhances yourself improvement.

Hi mekesa,

I just finished reading your comments. It must be so hard having to live
in a home environment where your parents yell at you for no reason.
What you are describing is an unhealthy home situation. Perhaps the
reason you're not eating is because you feel stressed out. Stress can
cause a major lack of appetite. It's really important to eat, mekasa.
Eating food gives you energy and you need energy so you can cope
with stressful situations. If you're 16 years old, are you still in school ?
If you are still in school, perhaps you could talk about your problems
with your parents, " career stuff" with a school councillor. That's why
they are their to give you guidance and help you sort out problems
and options. Tell the councillor that our parents yell at you for nothing
as you say. That's abusive actually. But don't tell your parents they're
being abusive. This may make things work especially as you're still
living at home. The guidance councillor will give you some strategies to
cope with this and the other problems you're facing. You're so young.
Don't give up. It doesn't sound like you're depressed. It sounds more
like you're stressed out. If you want to leave me a message to talk some
more, my name is evewisewoman on Medhelp. I will listen to you.
Take good care, Eve
