snorting tylenol unbearable pain

Hi, my husband and myself have been snorting pills( ativan klonopin vicodin percocets and now oxycodone)for almost three years now. When we just did those pills we did not have the problem we hv now. Our problems have escalted to the point now that we want to thrust our heads agaisnt a brick wall. We found out when i got put on oxys that we could stretch our supply by mixing tylenol with it. Theres usually ativan and or some catapresses in it it as well. It used to be when we would snort the mixture our pain in our nasal cavity would ease up. He is much worse than me, his pain is in both nasal cavities sinus cavity throat etc. Mine just over the pass week has spread thru my right side nasal cavity, right sinus, ear and back of throat on the right side. I have to make my meds last an entire month so we usually snort four times a day then maybe a tylenol with ativan in between a few doses. It seems like air conditioning makes it worse. Ive been trying to use nasal spray at least hourly now over the past 24 hoursas able to avoid using my right side for almost ten hours yesterday and thrn finally the pain seriohsly made me feel like i could really hurt myself. I used some tylenol which helped went to bed cuz i work midnights and woke up about six hours later feeling like i was clubbed in the right side of my face with a bat and the pain has not let up since then even with using tylenol not using tylenol nasal spray lightly blowing anything....it just wont stop hurting and draining. I feel like i could stop snorting and juss use my meds sublingually but even after my ten hour break and having NO relief of pain in my nose i honestly feel like i hv no light at the end of the bridge and that no matter what i do or dont do its never gonna stop our quit throbbing. Please any suggestions or advice on how we can help get rid of this pain so we can not be held prisoners by this pain would be helpful. If someone has stopped snorting for these reasons like the circumstance we are in could you tell us how long the pain held on till it alleviated. Please we hv no one else to turn to and im so tired of crying all the time. me fee

Im sorry to hear about the pain you are in...I can hear the anguish in the words you wrote. You and your husband need help...I think you know that otherwise you wouldn't have posted. I...nor anyone else here can tell you when your pain will go away. Ive snorted many things over the years and have dealt with nasal cavity pain before...and yes it did eventually go away. It took about a week if I remember correctly. But, my situation may be different than yours so dont rely on what I went through to gauge how long it will hurt for you.

Id suggest going to Urgent Care or the ER...or, waiting to see your family doctor. If you keep snorting these things, you can cause severe...irreversible damage.  Dont try and do too much to your nose because its irritated and you dont want to make it worse. If youve already done a saline rinse...you may want to try a vapor rub like OTC Vicks or something. Maybe a cold pack will help....I just wouldn't do too much because you will likely make it worse.

Your sinuses need a rest....and time to heal. Here is an old thread where someone was in a similar situation. you may be able to find some info in it.

I went through this very thing for many yrs Even started substituting Tylenol like you said. I couldnt see a future without snorting pills Until I ran out of pain pills and tylenol alone wouldnt ease the pain My friend was prescribed Suboxone Sublingual Strips Those things saved my life... You can take one by mouth and it basically numbs all those parts that normally need powder to help... I was a hard pill addict for 13 yrs. I got clean using Suboxone There is an online clinic please if you're still having this problem Get back to me Ill give you all the info and help anyway I can

Its the snorting that has got you in this situation . I find it hard to believe that you are saying you get relief from snorting a Tylenol you need to see a doctor obviously your sinus are messed up really bad if there not destroyed . Sounds like your addiction is snorting no matter what it is . please see a doctor and get substance abuse help.

Sounds like a no brainer. Do you need somebody to tell you to stop killing yourself? Ok, Time to get off it, just that simple. Either that or keep suffering until the lights go out. A few months off it and you'll be fine.

The Tylenol is causing the severe pain. Went thru this exact thing of cutting percs w Tyl to stretch out. When without had screaming pain in sinus. Only relief came from direct warm steam  frm humidifier. Finally went to med clinic and Dr shoved giant qtip thing w Lidocane up. Was immediately relieved. Stop cutting w Tylenol!! Percs themselves dont cause pain. Also have had ringing in ear ever since bad sinus episode. Got infection frm snorting on open sore or raw sinus. Dr gave antibiotics. Ringing still persists tho.

How long did it take it to heal?

You two are dealing with an obsessive/compulsive disorder commonly associated with drug abuse. You are addicted to the snorting process just as much as you are addicted to the drugs and this is frightening because by continuing to snort is going to end badly. Both of you need to check into the ER and be honest with the doctors. If you continue to try to self medicate this issue you are risking your life.

Well I think you should know certain pills will lose a lot of there strength and make you less high when you snort them, some pills are designed and cut with other chemicals so they can beabsorbed thru your stomach or thru your blood. Most Bezos will have less effect if snorted so you are actually losing a lot of the effect you should put them under your tongue and let them dissolve. Cutting your oxy with Tylenol is plain silly it wont make it last longer and Tylenol is bad for your liver and nasal cavity, cut it with B12  crushed if you must. Sniffing stuff can cause irreversible damage, you should def research which drugs you can and cant sniff, your wasting a lot of drugs. You need help, your not even seasoned enough to know the basics, its like being a garbage head, you gotta get of the drugs at the very lest stop putting up your noses some stuff can cause blindness if sniffed. You two gotta heal, for the meantime cush them and put them in water and drink, it will get in your system almost as quick as sniffing them and stop wasting your Bezos. You two should also prob look into detox asap, this seems like your on the road to certain death or at the very lease danger. Your in my prayers good luck.

you have built up a tolerance to them. if you lower your dose, take them the right way and yes change your way of thinking they will work.
why do you take them?
do you and your husband both have scripts?
have you tried other methods of pain management?
pain actually increases staying on opiates for a long time.
opiate induced pain ---- hyperalgesia.

and by the way you are not beyond help.

there is always hope...

Thank you both for your comments. In my head i believed snorting the meds would help me more with my pain. Ive taken them by mouth and they never seem to work. My pain doctor doesnt really like adjusting my meds and she is the only one available on my insurance plan so im kinda stuck...family doc wont mess with any narcotics. So i guess i juss need to rewire my brain thoughts cuz i dont want to relapse back to snorting when i have a bad pain day and cant hardly move. Babysteps...

Hi :-) another day with no snorting :-) i miss it most in the morning cuz thats when i wake up in horrible pain. I have herniated and ruptured disc along with ddd. My job is full of lifting patients so my back will never get better. I get my meds from a pain doctor. The antibiotic and lidocaine my husband got from th UC i couldnt go so we hv been splitting the meds. Unfortunately my husband hasnt given up snorting completely. He has decreased it but not stopped completely. I hope he comes around, he was in miserable pain last nite i juss held him and rocked him and reinfoced the need for him to stop. Hopefully today will be a better day for him. Thanks for checkin in with me i appreciate every bit of advice that has been given to me!

that is great news. take care of you, if your husband comes along for the ride, that would be wonderful, if not, let him take care of himself when he is ready to do that.
do you get any penicillin and lidocaine for yourself? or is there a problem because of your job?
did you take any pills by mouth during these 24 hours?
that is awesome that you are feeling better so soon.
do you get pills from a doctor?

Just wanted to check in. Its been over 24hrs since i snorted, last night was one of the worst nights i ever expierenced. Today things are a little calmer. My left ear and left nasal/sinus area are still sore but are tolerable. My husband got penicillin and lidocaine for the nose from the UC. I caught him snorting about 4am i tried to be supportive without being nagging...not sure if it worked or not. I know his pain im gonna juss try be as supportive as i can. Thank you all for your help so much.

Like Vicki said . You can still get the effects for now by taking these meds orally. You need to not snort any more of these meds.  Like I said in your other thread,We have all been there so when we say something rest assured that there is no judgement or harshness, just kind of imperative that you stop the snorting part of this right now. You can work on the addiction when you get your sinuses figured out and out of pain.

I understand about poor choices...and I'm concerned about you both.
Can you at least take your meds by mouth? That would go a long way to calming the problem for now. Tylenol is so caustic to those soft tissues, it's making it worse...
Let us know how you're doing...

I cant begin to thank you all for your words of advice and juss the compassion you guys extended to a couple of strangers...again ty. I dont know if i conveyed this in my message...we do want to stop this cycle. I not looking for a quick fix only to heal enough to begin doing the whole process again with no pain like it use to be. We arent strong folks and im truly scared i wont be able to get thru the pain i know that im going to suffer thru. I have to work i had to use tylenol juss to be able to stop crying so i can work. My husband is disabled so he has it a tiny bit easier he doesnt hv to function at a job but with my pain he feels it as well cuz he loves me. We were both bawing as i wrote my inital letter. Im so afraid im not gonna be able to beat this. I was thinking of trying to taper my snorting abit more each day??? Cold turkey pain makes me shiver juss thinkin about it. Hes gonna go to an urgent care if he gets some atb we are gonna juss split them. Yes i know its likely not to fight the whole infection but im in the medical field and when registering with my insurance card my place of employment is attached to that and i cant lose my job because of my poor choices. I bought chapstick and some drops called Ayr which was posted in a link you thouhtfully supplied to me about a poor girl who had some nasal burning from coke use. I took a small heating pad to work last nite and used it on my cheek and nose area..it seemed to soothe things some. I will be back on here during these days trying to struggle with this horrible pain im going to hv to endure. Plz be gentle with us...this is tough stuff even if weve choosen such a wrong path to go down. Keep us in your prayers. Ty

Bless both of you. It’s a hard journey to get clean off opioids. I know the pain all to well. What has been working for me after a 7 year addiction to prescription pain meds has been using Kratom. It’s an absolute lifesaver for me. I also used phenibut, which is a supplement you can get online that helps with the restless leg, anxiety, and insomnia that follows opioid withdrawals. I suggest you look up Kratom and phenibut as a combination for helping getting off the pills. You both deserve to live a life free of the crutch of pills. Good luck to you both.

Hi there! This post really concerns me for several reasons. You are potentially snorting a lethal combination of meds. You mentioned that you mix catapress in the mix as well? That is a blood pressure medication. I know that it is also used for withdrawal but it lowers your BP and with the oxy, Ativan that too will lower your BP. Just a thought. Those medications are not meant to be crushed and snorted. Also crushing them can increase a potential for abuse. I think there are a lot of issues with that here. I am sorry that you are in pain. I agree with the posters above that you could have an infection and you need to seek medical treatment ASAP. Also you could be experiencing some abrasions in the nares and sinus track. Your nose has thin mucous and its very sensitive. In that case a saline nasal spray is only going to make it worse..you also mentioned that air conditioning makes it worse so that tells me that those mucous membranes are dried out even though you have discharge that more than likely is coming from the sinus cavities. Please get some help as soon as you can. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Hi- I don't think anyone on the forum can help you two; you've both got some serious problems.  It sounds like you have a huge infection going on. You need antibiotics and a professional to evaluate you.
It's serious...an infection in your nose, mouth, throat, ear can travel to your brain.

Take your husband and yourself to an ER or urgent care facility soon and good luck.
