Anyone ever have success with Cymbalta?

Day 12 off Methadone here. My Dr. prescribed me Cymbalta to help with the deppression and anxiety which I have suffered with for the last 16 years and of course now is infinitly amplified. Supposed to take 30mg/day for the first week then step it up to 60mg/day there after. I took it the first day (Fri) and it made me feel all jittery like I drank 10 monsters. Didnt take it yesterday. I know it takes about a month to start working completely but I didnt like the feeling I had. Anyone ever try it?

I know I was on methadone for 6 yrs and it kinda takes a few months for your nerves and your system to settle down ...i bet after you give it several months the cymbalta might work better for you then

Hi..I came off of a 12 year ride on the Methadone with 2 other meds. Sometimes it does take a long time for the Brain Transmitter to balance back. Alot of Drs will give you a AD med to help the serotonin to recycle. This med is a serotonin and norepinephrine it is a reuptake inhibitor. It does take about 4-8 weeks sometime to kick in right way where you will not feel any side affects like Anxious or Irritable. BUT we are all different and not One drug fits all. I sure wish you the best. If you can give it time by doing all natural that would be good.

Thank you for your input. I was on Paxil a while back and it really did nothing for me part of the reason I started with the pain meds. I take 0.25 xanax when needed. A 90 pill script lasts me 3-4 months so I dont take it much. Just wants this horrible feeling gone! I know its a roller coaster but Im not ready for 2 months of this.

hello, great job on 12 days off Methadone, thats just great.  I was RX Cymbalta due to pain and depression, i personally did not get or feel the jitters from it, but i sure did hear allot of people say that it happened to them.  It does take some time for it to work and as addicts we want immediate gratification you will not get that with the Cymbalata.  I recommend consulting with your doctor about the side effects that you are experiencing and see what he/she has to say.  There are other meds out there that can work fast like Lexapro.  I was on it for a few months but for me and i am only speaking about my self here, i felt that i didn't want to add yet another drug to the mix of what i was going through, so i chose to get off it and not take an AD med.  But thats just me, i believe we are all different and have different needs.  SO please contact your doc and inform him/her whats going on.  I want to end with great job on 12 days off of the methadone!!!!!!

I only took it the first day. It really made me feel a lot more anxious then I already was. After reading testimonies on the web it seems to be spilt with the haters and the lovers. I guess just like anything else it varies from person to person. I might give it another shot because I feel like crap!

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with Cymbalta but I'm going to the dr in the morning for treatment of my depression and anxiety. Been on 1mg of Xanax for 13 years but it isn't helping for the depression I'm getting at day 10 of CT off roxys. Not sure what if anything she will give me to help but once you've found out more about Cymbalta or it starts taking effect can you please let me know if it works b/c I'm desperate to get out of my depression!! Congrats on day 12 off Methadone!! From past detox exp with that I feel your pain and know you are a STRONG person for what you are going through and still going strong!!! Keep it up!!!
