DDC non invasive prenatal paternity test?

So i have done A LOT of research on DDC's non invasive prenatal paternity test. but i am very interested in knowing some results from reviews on women who have had this test done. apparently the test has been available for some years but wasnt perfected until late 2011, using high tech and a much better approach. it is said to be 99.9% accurate and gives women a peace of mind while pregnant and trying to find out who the father of their baby is, not having to wait until baby is born. the test doesnt harm baby like the invasive tests from the past. this was some information on the test my real question is for those ladies who have had the test since it was out in late 2011? Please share ur experience =)

Hi - I know this is an old trail but need some advice

I live in the Uk and did the DDC prenatal paternity test. It came back as a exclusion. Baby now born and doesnt look like either father as baby looks a lot like me. Call ddc in uk who says they havent had any of these tests be wrong.

i am worried the result is wrong which would ruin my life. Struggling to find any information from people in the uk who have done the test. is there anyone who can share their experience?

i am going insane with worry

thanks

DDC was lying, my prenatal test from them was a false exclusion.
Hi, TiffanyJaneSara, that must have been very difficult to deal with. When you say the DDC was "lying," I assume you mean when they assert they have never had a wrong answer? It would be stupid for any lab in the world to hide if there have ever been mistakes, or later found the guy committed fraud in giving samples. The company needs to do a better job of explaining that they will sometimes have a wrong answer if they have been faked by the guy sending in his buddy's swab, or due to genetic flukes that make DNA testing difficult, and other problems with testing can occur. I don't know if by now, the DDC still lets its representatives claim 100% accuracy -- they are a big outfit and have probably done hundreds of thousands of tests, and they should not encourage their reps to say this because it is clearly not possible for any lab anywhere to claim 100% success. If I were taking one of those tests, I would do the most careful chain of custody testing, and make it clear from the outset that is the level of security I want. The story in this thread where the poster was told by the representative for her hostile baby dad that he didn't need to test again, using the DDC's claim of 100% accuracy as a justification, is really B.S. Prenatal testing is not admissible in court as proof of paternity because it is just that much harder to do it.
Also, regarding MiracleBabyUK's post just above, she came back and posted again. Turned out, her test was correct. Here is the link:

Definitely worthwhile.  (Frankly, I would ask for fingerprints too, if I were the lab, to prevent some guy from enlisting his buddy who looks like him to go give the swab sample.  Doing everything it can to avoid assisting in fraud would seem to be a real concern for any lab.)

I wasn't there at all but to be truly honest I really don't see him lying. But that is why I ordered the chain of custody. They take Polaroid pictures of each of us holding our ids. I want to see those pictures.

And, did you see him do the swab, and did you see the tech carry it away?

All of what you said I am doing. I have a meeting with my attorney on Wednesday.
The whole thing has just been horrible.
I never wanted to take the father to court. I never want our coparenting relationship to be this irrevocably damaged.
I am just so shocked that a company can do this to a pregnant woman. I believed them and trusted their process. I just others to be aware and be cautious.

Were you there, at the lab, and saw your boyfriend submit a swab, and you saw it carried out of the room by the tech?  If not, the whole test is suspect, I'm afraid, because a guy could get a buddy to go in his place.  (This might be what happened to the other women you talked to.)

The main thing you have going for you is that prenatal DNA tests (when I last read up on the issue) are not admissible in court to prove paternity, meaning you will need another one anyway from a court-approved lab, for child-support purposes once the baby is born.  You will then be able to use the authority of the court (a court order if necessary) to get your boyfriend into a court-approved lab for a test, and will be able to be there and witness him doing the swab.

I am surprised anyone at the DDC is stonewalling you and telling you that it is 100% accurate if you know it is not.  All you can do is keep telling the DDC what you require from them (if you have to, hire an attorney to do so.  That will probably get more attention than just some woman on the phone).  If this is a constant issue at the DDC, as you say it is, you should give your attorney the names and addresses of the other women to whom this has happened, as it will give the attorney more strength in the argument.

As for your boyfriend, I am very sorry he does not believe you and instead chooses to believe Mary.  He is being very stupid, or very cagey.  Be sure he knows that another test is upcoming when it is time for a child-support determination.

I am going to give you the quick run down. Keep in mind I have only been with one man in two years.
Tested on 8/14
Results 8/31
Results excluded him. I challenged. I paid $50 for the chain of custody to be sent overnight. Paid 8/31
Spoke to Chris the manager on 9/1 reiterating the need for review. He offered the following: free retest, free test after child born and refund of all monies. My boyfriend refuses because our case manager Mary stands firmly behind the test and states it is 100% accurate.
Called on 9/2 for update on test review and chain of custody. I was told by Mary my card was declined and someone should have told me on 8/31. I check my card and the money was taken out of my account on 8/31. Then Mary told me Opps there that was a computer glitch...... She would send an email out to send me the chain of custody.
Chris called me on 9/4 he stated that the chain of custody still had not been mailed to me and the test was still under review.
My boyfriend is not speaking to me and is furious. I have spoken to 4 other women that this happened to. All were offered the same thing I was, retest and refund. ALL four had their results reversed.
To this day I still have not received the chain of custody. As far as I know the test is still under review.
I cannot describe to you the pain and anguish this has put me through.

Hi, CharnaMarie, I would assume they will take the need to re-test or figure out what happened seriously, since it is not only your life they are dealing with but also their reputation.  Is there any chance your boyfriend faked the swab or used his friend in his place?  At the very least, I would insist on another test once the baby is born, where you go with him to the lab and watch the swab be done.  You can do this by court order if need be.

I took the test on 8/14. The test results are incorrect. My test is under review. I personally think the reason why nobody came back who's test was incorrect is because DDC offers them a certain deal. They are offering my one now. Wait until the child is born this has made my life a living hell.

whatever happened? did they offer you a deal?
They offered to pay my atty fees but I would have to sign an NDA  and do would my sons father.
And, so what did you do? Below you say that your prenatal test from them was a "false exclusion." Did you find this out by taking a test elsewhere? Did you take them to court?

I took the test two days ago and they said it takes up to 20 work days. That's almost 4 weeks I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait...

I need a prenatal dna test done and was going to go with DDC after researching other companies.  I spoke with Amanda at DDC and asked her if there were any false results provided and she said no, they guarantee 100%.  Did they even offer your money back?

Hi, Jade, test again until you get the same answer twice.  Right now, it sounds like you have two tests that disagree, which means you don't have any way to know which one is correct.

I just mailed out my DDC test that I took with one alleged father (my boyfriend) ..  I'm terrified for the results back in case they do screw up...  But I heard they do this test on Maury & it's 99.9 % accurate.

Hey there! I realize this was posted over a year ago but I recently chose to do the non-invasive prenatal paternity test through DDC. They were very kind on the phone, and the blood draw at the lab was effortless. However I am still playing the waiting game for my results. The first time they came back they had someone from the office call me to notify me that the test ran inconclusive. The lady said that its very rare but occasionally does happen. She offered to test the samples again or refund my money. Of course I want to know the results so I told her to test them again. It has been almost a 3 weeks and I have yet to receive my test results. I call ddc almost every other day and they always tell me that the test is still in progress. Now Im unsure of what to do. this is very stressful for me.

Anyways did you decide to do the test? If so how did it turn out?

I just paid the 1700 for this test. I am hoping to find good out of it. They said they haven't had a case come back inaccurate to this day.
