Husband has epididymitis, possibly cheating?

My husband was just diagnosed with epididymitis. We have been together for almost 9 years and I am 18 weeks pregnant with our 4th baby. At the dr, he said it is most often caused by a STI, but since we both said we had been faithful, he said it was probably from a UTI or some other unknown cause. Then we get home, and I read that it is almost always caused by chlamydia or gonorrhea. Since he didn't test my husband for STI's it is in the back of my head that maybe he was unfaithful. His dr is also my PCP and I was in the room for the exam and asked him if he thought I should be tested and/or treated along with my husband, and he said no.  I called my OB and they want me to have a STI panel done at my next appointment on Jan 7.

I have no reason to believe he is cheating on me. So my question is, is it common to have a non STI cause? And can he pass it to me if it is non STI cause? I have already told him that we will not be having sex until after my screen comes back, and only then if it is negative. He thinks I am very much overreacting and is supporting my decision to get tested for a peace of mind.

I had Testicular Cancer when i was 23 , I'm 56 now and I get Epididymis every couple of months , it seem when I take an antibiotic for a cold , the next month  ,like clockwork  Epididymis, and it has nothing to do with Chlamydia , I have been given a shot for that !!!!!

Epididymitis can be caused by either STD or UTI. In males 14-35 years of age, epididymitis is more frequently caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis. Otherwise, epididymitis is more frequently caused by Escherichia coli.

It definitely does NOT mean he was cheating - I was diagnosed w/ Epididymitis myself many years ago (around age 32), and at that time I wasn’t in a relationship & hadn’t been for a cpl yrs, and had not had any recent sexual encounters. The Dr told me it was likely an infection from other existing bacteria in my system that somehow got into the genitourinary tract. I took a course of antibiotics & was told to   avoid sexual activity & it did clear up after a few weeks. So don’t assume your husband cheated - he could very well have this without doing anything he shouldn’t !!

I know this was a long time ago but I am now in an almost identical situation and am wondering how it worked out? Was it caused by and sti or something else?

It does not mean he was cheating, a hypothetical situation would be a normal oral dwelling bacteria finding its way in the tubes that carry the sperm. So the only way to now is to have him test: a general swab, micoplasma/ureaplasma and chlamydia. Don't judge yet, but make him test.
