Yawning and grinding teeth

Almost a year ago my brother was hit by a car and is somewhat in a minimally conscious state. Soon after opening his eyes and starting to be a little more active he started grinding his teeth and the doctors can't seem to figure out why. But it seems as of late, it's almost as if he only grinds his teeth after he yawns (which he does do frequently) and he scowls after a yawn too, almost like a pain face. So I was wondering if maybe the yawning was creating some kind of pain that caused him to grind his teeth? Has anyone else familiar with TBI's ever experience this?

12 years out of brain injury and I can say at least the last five I've experienced excessive yawning. Maybe longer than just the last five, I dunno, but at this point I can report that when I get tired I yawn uncontrollably.
