Still waiting to see the lyme doc apt is next month(have to travel 1200km to find one). My reg doc knows nothing about lyme i gave him my igenex results and he ask me what does it mean... Although i was able to get him to prescribe me the 21 days of doxycycline. Ive checked with the pharmacist and the gliclazide and doxycyline are fine together. I havent went back to my reg doc to tell him about the numbers as he really doesnt seem to know much about diabetes either. In the beginning after seeing an endocronolgist i pretty much just went with what worked the best and more or less asked for what worked and thats what he gave me. I have almost zero faith in the docs up here as ive become pretty much crippled and our so called know it all doc(only internist we have) the first time told me i was just getting old and the second time i got referred to him he told me i must be missing something in my diet to take a multi vitamin.... I had to diagnose myself with diabetes which now i believe is from the lyme and im on my way to pretty much diagnosing my self with lyme. This medical system is pathetic. I find it a total waste of time going to the doc i only go now when im bad enough to miss work and its a laugh every time, he looks at me like im an idiot with my symptoms. I just talked to dr. murakami about it so i have a plan for now, was just wondering if anyone else has been down this road with the blood glucose levels being affected.
Nope never been on prednisone, before this all started i was lucky to only see the doc once every 3-4 years usually something i injured playing sports etc. My blood sugars seem to have gone back to my "norm" and i can eat again. Looks like it lasted 3-4 days, weird. Been a couple painful, rotten days since then. Im assuming this all has to do with either the doxycycline or the canibidoil or both.
Lyme can affect the entire endocrine system. So, that could have something to do with your blood sugar rather than the treatment itself. I don't know if you have every had to take any type of steroid medication like prednisone but that will also mess up your blood sugar in addition to lowering your immune system.
It's good that you have an appointment with a Lyme doc. Remember to take copies of all of your test results with you. Before my first appointment I typed up a document giving a synopsis of when I started feeling ill, what my symptoms were, what diagnoses I had been given, and the different medications I had taken.
I know it's frustrating having to travel so far to see someone. I have to travel from AZ to CA. But it will be worth it for you to get the answers you need. I wish you all the best in your journey.
I don't have ridiculously high glucose but my numbers are slightly messed up with the full blown Lyme. It seems not only does Lyme mimic some 300 other diseases, but sometimes it triggers other problems that unfortunately do not go away even when the Bb is finally gone.
Have you told your Lyme doc about your blood sugar issues, and have you told your diabetes about your Lyme situation? There may well be interactions between your situation and your meds AND having Lyme and diabetes that both docs need to coordinate treatment. Both docs need to be aware of the other doc and your situation.
