My Story .. Vitamin D Defeciency?

Excuse me for my English as it is not my first language. My name is Moe, 33 years old, healthy and happy guy. My story began on April 2015 when suddenly I had urine urgency feeling, like I need to pee all the time while the bladder is empty.  I never had this feeling before, so I asked some friends and they said maybe you have infection. I went to the Dr and he did all blood and urine test and nothing was there, so he said I am having irritable bladder syndrome and he prescribed some medicines which did not work. Another Doctor said this is anxiety and he prescribed anti-anxiety medicine which gave me some relief for a while only, he also gave me another medicine for IBS but it did not work. Suddenly all IBS symptoms disappeared and I had very weak legs that I couldn't stand up for more than 5 minutes I need to have a rest immediately. I made a quick search on the net and realized that Vitamin D can cause this and I took 50,000 UI pills weekly for three weeks, also I went to another doctor and he said that this is anxiety and also prescribed another anti anxiety medicine. Three weeks after everything was clear and I was healthy again.

During October I had a surgery for my testes to look for some sperms and they couldn't find any, they told me to have another try after six months. After the surgery in around 2 weeks I become down, moody, and a bit depressed. I thought at the beginning it is all due to the failed surgery even I know myself that I cannot be depressed so easily. I took the anti-anxiety medicine again but it did not solve this problem as I become more down and more depressed and feeling unreal for no reason. So I stopped the anti anxiety medicine for a while thinking that the medicine is having reversal impact as I read in some websites, but things become worse. I booked to see a psychiatrist and he said that I am having mild depression and anxiety and it all due to the stress caused by the failed surgery. Inside my head I was saying that's not true I have nothing wrong in my mind, so he gave me some anti-depressants and I started taking them for two days, I couldn't sleep and I felt worse. I stopped them and made my own search in the internet to know what may cause this and found that Vitamin D and B12 deficiency can, so I made a lab test and I found that I am Vitamin D deficient with less than 19. I went back to the psychiatrist and showed him the results and asked me to stop all anti-anxiety and anti-depressants and start having Vitamin D supplement (10,000 UI D3 per day for a month, followed by 5,000 UI D3 FOREVER).

The first week I felt 20% better, but I feel the fatigue and pain in my muscles, and sometime I feel down for no reason. I did another search in  the internet to see what other serious deficiencies that can cause similar symptoms, and I found that Iron, Zinc, Calcium, Mg, Thyroids,Parathyroid, Folic Acid, Folate, Diabetes, Copper, Phosphorus, B Complex and Potassium can cause similar or one of the symptoms so I asked for another lab test and all results were good.

Now this is the third week having supplements and I have some bad and good days and it can go up or down from time to time, however, I feel positive and I think that my long story is all due to Vitamin D deficiency. I will be patient and wait another two weeks to see how things will become. Hopefully I will feel the relief and become again the guy I used to be. I will try my best.

Make sure you're taking a high enough dose of D3 and magnesium daily.

Now the heart palpitation, irritability, hip pain, anxiety, chest and rip pain, short breath, unrealistic fear, IBS, and night sweats symptoms are much better than before however the libido, fatigue, and feeling lazy still exist. I feel better but my energy levels  still not up enough to boost my mood.

Yes I know Drs here still think that Vitamin D is just responsible for bones and muscle growth. I did not take the anti depressant and still stick with the suppliments only. By the way I had three days where i felt like normal and anxiety was gone, however, the anxiety came back today but less severe and can be managed. I still believe that Vitamin D deficiency is serious issue and can cause all above mentioned syptoms and hopefully after two weeks or more from now I can provide you with further updates. By the way I also read that Vitamin D deficiency can cause low blood sugar which at the end will lead to anxiety and depression. I feel better comparing myself to one month ago and hopefully I will return normal soon :)

Well low Vitamin D, low magnesium, low B12 and low iron can your issues. Doctors don't think low D does anything really and people are very sick. I just got new blood test results. I raised my vitamin D level in 11 weeks. I was at 19.2ng/mL and now currently at 61.0ng/mL

My anxiety is much better. In fact my daughter was in the ER last night for 6 hours. I felt anxiety but didn't completely freak out and I didn't have anxiety meds on me. The last time I took half a lowest dose of Xanax was on Dec 26th.

Your is incorrect. Low D is scary.

It's important to get levels above:
50ng/mL   OR   125nmoL

You need magnesium with Vitamin D or you will still have issues.
D and magnesium work with calcium levels. You should take Vitamin K2 to regulate calcium unless you eat a lot of dark leafy greens.

I went to the doctor today and she said that no further tests is needed and Vitamin D cannot cause all of this, she said that I am having anxiety and she prescribed me Anti-depressant. She confused me! However, I need to think if I am gonna take this medicine or not. Wish me luck

I am going today to see another doctor to check whether another tests are required.. The strange thing is when the night comes I feel much better and my sleep is good.. I need to tell the doctor today maybe she will figure this out.

However, my MG level is 2.1 which is above average and B12 is above 500, which seems good as well. I will see today what may happen and let you know.

It took at least 3 weeks for my body pain to ease and 4-5 weeks for headaches and sleep to improve some.

What type of magnesium did you take and what time of day?

Citrate at night may cause insomnia. I personally couldn't handle Glycinate, but others take it without issue. I switched to liquid
magnesium chloride And it's been ok.

When people say their levels are normal?
Are you going by the lab range and what it says? They make range levels too low, so many people are sick while within 'normal range'.

B12 levels below 200 are extremely deficient and many doctors feel the actual level of deficiency should be at 400. Most people have levels between 800-1,000

Many labs give a normal ferritin range starting at 10 so you may not hear back from your doctor when ferritin is low. The average for women is 50 and for men 100. Below 30 is considered low in a child.

Vitamins cause deplete other vitamins

It's a balancing act with multiple deficiencies....

B12 uses Iron & lowers Potassium,
D3 uses our magnesium,
Calcium lowers magnesium,
Zinc lowers copper, etc.

My Mg, B12, Iron, etc are all normal. And my Vitamin D was 19 ng/ml and after two weeks of suppliments it became 48 ng/ml.

I used to take extra Mg but I had severe insomnia, so I stopped it. By the way my B12 is over 500 which seems good too.

I am still feeling some of these symptoms but as I read I have to wait at least 6 weeks to feel better. This is my third week and feeling positive that I will become better.

I have low Vitamin D, low iron and possibly low Vitamin B12. I have most of those symptoms.

Depending on what lab range you're using, you still need higher levels for your D3.

I use Ng/mL .
below 50ng/mL should be considered deficient.

If you're nmoL you want to be over 125nmoL

You should test your blood after taking supplements for 3 months.

I've been taking supplements for almost 3 months (10,000iu D3 daily), and recently tested my blood. I'm waiting for the results.

You need to take at least 200mg magnesium daily. Split the dose between morning and afternoon because your body uses it throughout the day. Try raising it a little more  and see how you feel. Men need approximately 400mg per day.
Always take magnesium when taking D3. Take your D3 with some type of fat to help it absorb. Don't take D3 at night, it may cause insomnia.
My anxiety is more controllable and the sleep has gotten better since taking supplements.

Low magnesium cause heart palpitations, anxiety, depression...etc.

Low D and Low B12 cause various symptoms too. Even if your tests show normal range, it doesn't mean it's optimal. You can still have symptoms.

I have done testerone test to ensure that testes surgery did not damage the cells and results were normal. This would eliminate the the androgen hormones deficiency. The only reason I have for now is just Vitamin D deficiency. Whenever I get any other clue i will repost.

Vitamin /d and Vitamin B-12 deficiency can cause your symptoms. also, have you been checked by a neurologist for weaknes, urinary symptoms and pain? A wild card is MS.

Also want to to mention that I had Irritable bowel syndrome in addition to the above mentioned symptoms. I made a Vitamin D test two days ago and the results is 48 which look very good. I will wait and see when I can feel better hopefully very soon :) wish you all the best and be sure that Doctors see things as mentioned in their books, they never dig deep and analyze your symptoms.
