Vertigo from allergies question

Hi,  I am suffering from Vertigo & was wondering if anyone has experienced this & has any recommendations on how to handle it "naturally".  I had my first Vertigo attack 2 years ago & had been to numerous doctors/allergists/ENT's & other than then wanting to load me up on drugs, the only thing that's been determined is that they say I have benign positional vertigo which is caused by fluid in the inner ear & the little tiny crystals breaking away causing my head to spin & me to be off balance.  Since then, I have suffered with this at about the same time EVERY year (April, May) whereas it starts with a wicked sore throat/post-nasal drip & then the Vertigo begins.  I am not able to lie down in bed or turn certain ways or tilt my head during the day & must be very careful b/c my balance is off & I walk around like a drunk at times.  I hope someone can give me some advice as to where to turn to relieve these symptoms.  Thanks for your help!

Don't feel alone, for several years I've been getting vertigo off and on.Unfortunately, there has been nothing to help. I just have to ride it out for a couple of months and it is totally frustrating. Like you at the beginning, they conducted all these test to rule out tumors, etc. That part was a relief, but now I can't stand never knowing when I'm going to feel off balance. I hate it at night when I roll to my left side and the room sways for a minute. Hopefully, one day someone can come up with a solution because this is very depressing when you can't control something going on in your body.

if dizziness is your problem and your are having trouble breathing i would not recommend any of you trying the flonase because one thing you have this thing called thyroid that regulates your body and when you take that flonase it will do nasty things to you i would not recommend this and also you are not going to be able to dry up any sinus your body makes that it sounds like to me that why you get dizzy is because the sinus is having a hard time leaving the eustachian tube area which it is supposed to no steroid is not going to take down any inflammation at all i have never heard of this all it is going to do is give you a fix and that is it.

allergies and vertigo go very much together. i lived in florida for years never had an allergy in my life. i moved to iowa and talk about the world spinning. as i thought i had an ear infection . my doctor informed me that it was allergies and it was causing fluid in my ear. once it was so bad i had to go the hospital but also at that time i didnt know vertigo was caused by allergies so i use flonase. yeaterday i started a new bought with vertigo so i now use it 2 times a day if you are not on flonase call your doctor it works wonders and now that they have come out with a generic brand all the better
good luck

I too have suffered for the last 7 years. I have done every medical test in the book and have come to this: PREVENTING the allergies from starting, by using drugs like Singulair and Flonase in unison has helped TREMENDOUSLY!!! However, when pollen and ragweed concentrations get off the chart high, then the dizziness creeps back up. I am now going to try Dr. Joseph Millers viral neutralization technique. He beleives that the Herpes simplex 1 virus in the body is the cause of this Vertigo. I do get FEVER BLISTERS on my lips occasionally, so I know I must have this incurable virus as many of us do. This should not be confused with genital herpes. there are many different types of herpes. Do yourself a favor and research this technique. My allergist was very interested, and is willing and able to help me try it. He obtained the flu vaccine for me, diluted it, and am about to start the process. It is similar in theory to getting allergy shots. You are builing up immunity to the virus that lives in your body FOREVER, and hopefully preventing it from rearing its ugly head. GOOD LUCK!

Hi, Thanks so much for your reply; however, I have a couple more questions that I'm hoping you can answer.  When I first come down with a sore throat, it causes me to be very run-down & achy for about 2 days before continuing the cycle of post-nasal drip & scratchy throat for a few days afterward.  Does this sound like just a viral infection & is it possible that when the vertigo comes about, that it has led into a bacteria infection deep in the middle ear?  When I go to the doctor, they never see any redness or much fluid, nor do the blood tests show any abnormality in my counts; in fact I recently had a CBC done & EVERYTHING was in the normal range (done before the onset of Vertigo).  If no medication is taken to relieve the congestion of what's causing the Vertigo, will it eventually go away on its own?   I have a very weak stomach when it comes to medication & seem to have various side effects, especially when I take any medication that has pseudoephrine or anything similar--causes anxiety/panic attacks with me.  Oh, and when I first experienced Vertigo 3 years ago, I had a whole gamut of tests done, including an MRI of the head to rule out tumors, etc & nothing showed up; other than the fact that I had Vertigo.  Thanks again for any info you can provide!  :-)

Since you have had this three straight spring seasons, it is possible that the cause of this vertigo is related to an allergic cause of increased fluid and pressure in the inner ear.  While it is clear that you do not want to be "loaded up on drugs", vertigo is a fairly common medical complaint that can be helped by medicines.  These may include, nasal steroids to decrease the swelling and inflammation, oral steroids if the nasal steroids do not work, and anti-vertigo medicines to control the symptoms.  If you do not wish to take any medicines, I am not aware of any naturopathic remedies for this problem.  However there are some highly touted remedies for allergy problems, which are probably at the cause of the vertigo.
