Does suboxone cause swelling

Hi I have been on suboxone off and on for 5 years full time for 3 years I am still on teo 8 mg strips a day when I started I was on 4 strips a day so I have tapered some in the past couple years . I became on suboxone because I was put on pain pills for a long time by a dr and I found after a couple years I had a addiction to them and couldn't function without the pain pills so I put my self in suboxone clinic. Suboxone even though it's a addiction its self however has saved my life and gave me back a functioning life to where I can work and do every day things . The past 6 to 8 months I started noticing that I have had fluid retention in my knees and legs at first I thought to much pop or two much salt or even to long standing . Now I have came to the point my belly swelles just like I'm 5 months pregnant and my legs swelling so bad they hurt and if you touch them they indent and stay that way . I am just wandering if anybody else has went through this fluid retention this bad ??? And what can you do about it because I no at this point I can't go cold turkey off suboxone I wish I could . Also I have had blood work done in liver and full panel it came back normal so I guess that's good but i fill as if my kidneys and bowels are not working right . I also have constipation all the time .. Can that cause the fluid retention ??? Please if anybody can help me if apriciate it . Also I have been trying water pill directics and they don't work .. I need to get my body back the fluid it getting me where I can't breath and when it comes off it causes me to have the worse Charlie horses and leg cramps ever ... Any suggestions I would apriciate it .

I know this may not answer your post but to anyone who is having issues with w/d or addiction need to try Kratom! It is at the local smoke shop and you will lose all craving and w/d symptoms or effects! Please do some research on kratom prior to trying it out. If I were describe it to the best of my abilities I would say, it us a plant in close relation to coffee. It is ground up leaf either into capsule or powder form. This plant (kratom) has effects similar to Norcos however, it runs through your caffeine receptors rather than the opiod receptors. Personally I dose with about 15-25 capsules. The more you take the more it feels like vicodin. This plant is very underground and isn't FDA approved however you can purchase at almost any smoke shop (atleast in my state) prices vary but if you're emptying your pockets to buy pills from dealers or even find yourself depending highly on any opiod substances, this plant will give you your life back as well as help maintain a healthy bank account. Please do your research prior to taking any but I STRONGLY recommend you try this. I hope this helps you please let me know if there's any other questions that I may help with!

Sincerely,

D.W.

Hi Ashmub,

Things are very quiet around here these days but you might get a faster response if you post this as a new question.  I have no experience with suboxone or I'd try t answer myself.

Same symptoms! I am new to suboxone...on my 3rd month of 8mg. Severe joint pain and hand numbness....will this go away or get better?! I feel like I’m 90 years old....I can hardly get out of bed in the am without crying; same getting up out of a chair or out of car after driving...., everything aches and my knees especially feel very tight and I can’t kneel. Has anyone else had this side effect? My dr dismissed it as not caused by the Suboxone but it started within a week of starting suboxone.... it has helped so much with my addiction to team idol I am hoping this will get better?! Thank you for any input

My doctor finally put me on Lasix. Coming off of Suboxone plus taking the Lasix reduced the swelling.

I was on Suboxone for 6 months and I had to come off of it because of swelling. My ankles were so swollen I couldn’t even walk. The medication is great for withdrawal and cravings, but swelling is definitely a side-effect.

Hey how did it go when you got off? I’ve had swelling everywhere! Was I and off the one day cake on hard and never left. I’m thinking it has to be suboxone or subutex currently! How long did it take to go away. I’m 6 days off but still big

Yes water retention can be a side effect of suboxone.
Have you discussed this with the prescribing doctor?
Too much water retention/edema can become a serious
Problem. It can surround the lungs and heart. I would definitely get to a doctor.
