Well, yes they are.. But you should be in control almost All the time. As my midwife said, you can have a car accident tonight, or you can fall down a flight of stairs... Those have the same possibilities to happen than something going wrong during labor. But we have been taught that labor is dangerous, traumatic, painful and terrible through the last centuries and this misconception is deep in our cultures that we don't even give it a second thought.
I was terrified in my first delivery. I was shaking and feeling so vulnerable, just scared and panicky. I even didn't want to go in to labor just to avoid all the hospital stuff! But my midwife was just so human and gentle and sweet.. I became comfortable soon enough and everything went perfect. I got to choose every thing that was being done, from the amount of light, temperature in the room to the people who came in (as in number of midwives or doctor... Not just relatives)..
Bc every labor is different.
I don't understand why you wouldn't be in control of things...?
I'm 38 weeks and if favorable on monday I'll have her on Wed and I'm so nervous about labor pain too but I've been trying research diffrent positions and pressure points also going to start on maybe some concentrating things I can listen to the day of birth
My doctor said she will induce me but only after 39 weeks. I'm so ready to be done and meet my princess
