California is the center of the universe when it comes to alternative medicine. One of the top schools training naturopaths is there -- the best known is in Seattle, but California has the second best known one. Acupuncturists abound there, as do virtually any kind of alternative practitioner you could think of. I'm pretty sure they can't do anything about this situation, unfortunately, but these are the practitioners who practice alternative or integrated medicine I can think of off the top of my head: practitioners of TCM (traditional Chinese medicine, which includes acupuncture), Ayurvedic physicians (traditional medicine of India usually practiced by MDs), naturopaths, herbalists, many osteopaths thought they might not be as well-trained as they seem, regular MDs who practice integrated medicine, which combines allopathic with natural medicine, holistic nutritionists, and homeopaths, usually MDs who practice homeopathy. This is just to name some. There are probably several facilities in California that practice some form of these modalities, but most of them would be in Mexico or other countries as much of this medicine is not formally legal in the US to practice in a hospital setting as the natural remedies aren't FDA approved -- only things that can be patented will ever be submitted for formal FDA approval. You used to be able to find these practitioners by going to your local health food store, which usually had a card file from its customers listing the practitioners they had used, but you can Google directories of these professionals or you can contact the schools that train them. I believe American Biologics has a natural hospital somewhere in the MidWest. I wouldn't get my hopes up -- this is a severe condition that comes from severe diseases such as West Nile and, more often, polio, and is best dealt with by preventing it. I don't know what any health practitioner can do for this condition, but again, if you can't find them in California you can't find them.
