Fisting after hernia

I apologize for the nature of the question in advance. A bit odd to some, others perhaps not.

Here goes. I am having a hernia operation in a few weeks. The doctor said it is fairly routine and straight forward. It isn't so serious that I have to limit my activities before the operation apart from lifting really heavy objects. There is no sign of the right side being incarcerated and the left side I was unaware of before seeing the surgeon. Neither are painful.

My question is can I still be the receptive partner for anal fisting after a suitable period of recovery, say a year perhaps.

The hernia was not caused by fisting. I had not engaged in it for about a year. As far as I can tell it began to be symptomatic after lifting a very heavy potted plant.

Again, sorry for the nature of off he question. Both regular doctor and surgeon are good people but I am a bit shy to speak to them about this.

Thanks!
