Would compression sleeves that cover calves help with foot swelling?

59 year old male with varicose veins in both legs. I am traveling in Asia and only have sleeves that cover from the ankle protrusions to just below the knee. I will only have regular socks and running shoes for my feet. I had pretty bad swelling of the foot and ankle for about ten days after the flights over here. Would it be a good idea to put those compression sleeves on before beginning the 25 hour travel marathon to return home to the usa? Thanks

I'm following up with you and was wondering if the sleeve did indeed help?
