Sunday Weigh In March 25, 2018

Wow, can you believe another week has gone by?  How are y'all doing with your weight loss efforts?

I'm not doing as good as I'd have liked since my neighbor left a couple of weeks ago.  She keeps me going, especially, in the exercise department, because we walk almost every day, so if I do get off track with my food, the exercise helps off-set the extra calories.  Of course, that doesn't mean I can eat junk, exercise and still expect to be healthy...

Anyway, it's been warming up during the day, so I've not been spending so much time at the computer lately.  I've got some neat yard projects going and as soon as I finish those, I'll start working on some shop projects that I've been putting off for a couple (more like a few...lol) years.  Of course, my problem is that something often comes up to change my plans; I had these same plans last summer and my husband was ill all summer, so we spent most of the year with him in and out of the hospital and when he wasn't in the hospital, we were waiting in doctor's offices or testing facilities, etc.  He's doing fine, now, so we're hoping we don't have a repeat performance this year.

Anyway, in spite of the fact that I found an awesome recipe for homemade "no churn" ice cream - yes, I did make it, too...lol -  I'm weight neutral this week, so I don't feel bad about my weight.

I went for blood work on Friday and I'm hoping it will reflect the way I feel, so my PCP will increase my thyroid hormone dosage back to what it was before my endo displayed her unwillingness to listen and think.  I'm also hoping my cholesterol and triglycerides will still be down, but since they're affected by thyroid hormone levels, I'm afraid they won't be so good as last time.   I'll get all of those results later in the week.

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it... What about all of you?  It's your turn...

~ have a great week and win by losing ~

I am the opposite. Already "bigger" boobs, pregnancy and nursing 4 children I am bigger now than I was before. And yes, Annie all my weight has settled in stomach and my boobs too. I have Very skinny legs, arms and no butt to speak of.
Congrats to you all on The continued battle. I don't like Sunday weigh in.
lol considering I many times am out on the weekend and/or usually eat different than during the week. So by tues I should adjust by then.
Because I know I too get bloated.
I am maintaining at this time. I am happy with that. Since losing ten lbs.
I am happy to be maintaining this new weight.

Middle and upper body weight with skinny arms are often caused when stress hormone levels are high (cortisol, adrenaline, and noradrenaline).  Have you ever had those tested?

I usually eat different on weekends, too, but knowing I'm going to post the weigh-in thread helps encourage me to keep things in check a little better...  :-)

There's nothing cut in stone, so you don't have to weigh on Sunday if you don't want to.  If Tuesday is your normal weigh in day, you can wait and post on that day if that works better for you.

Those are good suggestions for the Easter Bunny.

I nursed both my girls and was left with less than when i started!!  lol

That was what I expected. My mom breastfed four kids and her boobs are like empty wallets, I thought that was my legacy too.

This is our fourth weigh-in.  The first one wasn't quite a full week after we'd started the challenge so you're right, this one would be after the third full week...

Wow, Annie, you're brave doing an official weigh-in at night...I'd be scared to try that since my weight is, typically, 2-5 lbs higher at night than it is in the morning.  I always do my weigh-in first thing in the morning, after I've gone to the bathroom and before I've had anything to eat or drink (except a sip of water with medication).  If I wait till later in the day, I've got everything I've put into my stomach for the day to add, plus whatever fluid has built up in my tissues over the day.

I was wondering about Easter.  Have you thought about putting some non-candy items in your son's Easter basket, too?  My son was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes just prior to Easter when he was 10 yrs old.  Although he was outgrowing Easter baskets, his sister wasn't.  I used to put pencils and tablets, whatever toys they were collecting at the time or other small things (sort of like "stocking stuffers") into the baskets instead of filling them up with candy.  I also saved the eggs when I bought pantyhose (L'eggs), and used those to put coins and small items into so they could go into the baskets... now you can actually buy plastic egges... I'd usually add some fruit and other homemade goodies.

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about that anymore; I just have to worry about my husband wanting to make a trip to the local Russell Stover store to buy the stuff when it goes on sale after Easter...  :-)

We do put presents in the basket, seasonal things and toys. But hiding the candy around the house is part of it too, and Augie is getting sad about the time when he "believed" so I won't be changing out things all the way quite yet. Jelly beans, mostly, but there are these little malted-milk-ball eggs wrapped in foil that he loves. :)
Oh, and yes, my weight varies in the day. This morning I was 4 lbs. down from where I began originally. I hope I detoxed some of the salt from all the ham at breakfast yesterday by drinking water, and that the salt was what the weight was about.

Is this our third weigh-in (therefore the end of our third week)? I weighed in last night at 3 1/2 lbs. lighter than at the start of the challenge, which I thought was pretty good, since it is kind of in line with the idea of a pound a week. Then went to Sunday brunch today (they had a lot of salted meats! Not my fault!) and had ham and a sweet drink, and now I weigh only 1 1/2 pounds less than I did at the very beginning of the challenge.

I really had not pieced it together until this challenge that especially sugar can puff me up so much, but from watching the scale this week, it is obvious. All week I was good, and was at about that same 3-lbs.-down mark, until that treacherous brunch. I might check back in the morning after I have some water and sleep and no more sweet things.

Easter is coming and I have an 11-year-old who insists the Easter Bunny will come and bring him a basket of goodies (I know he does not believe any longer, but he likes to play along). I have to make sure not to buy the kind I like best or I will be SO sugared out next week.

How tall are you Annie?  I have you pictured as shorter and skinny but then again i thought you were in your 20's!!  I had to laugh when i thought about that when i saw you had been married 34 yrs!
Yeah, I was an early marriage but a late mommy through the miracles of modern science, so I was quite an outlier when I joined MedHelp when pregnant, and never did let on to the other new mommies in the pregnancy forum that I was old enough to be *their* mommy. Someone rashly wrote in with a question about pregnancy in her 40s and you should have seen the lack of response. Crickets would have been louder. Then someone finally suggested uncomfortably that she try asking her question in the senior health forum or something, and that was it for me mentioning my age.

I'm five foot five (possibly 5'6" on a good day) and consistently not skinny not fat, except when I was pregnant and especially when nursing. I have a ten-pound range where I look OK and mostly my bod stays there, though the weight is slightly differently distributed since pregnancy (more boob and more stomach. Not complaining about the improvement in the bustline but well aware of what the stomach represents.) If not for my sugar consumption, I would regularly be at the bottom of my usual weight range and instead I've been hanging around at the top of the range for three years or more. Knowing how bad sugar is helps me get motivated, but I fall off the wagon all the time. All I have to do is look at my waist and I know if I've had a disciplined week or a slob of a week. But if I can maintain it enough to lose around a pound a week, I think I might be able to fight off all the unsightly waist pudge. (Cross fingers.)

I am down almost 2 lbs.  It was a hellacious week at work and i racked up a whole bunch of steps, over and above what i normally do.  I also started my Niacin and for the first few days it gave me a gut ache so i think that added to the loss too(now it is good!)  I did switch up my yogurt to the Oikos triple zero and i like it.  Had a grilled pork chop tonight with romaine lettuce salad.

We just got dumped on with 10 inches of snow on Saturday.  We are in a winter weather advisery for sleet and snow tonight.  If you would like Barb i would love to come and walk with you IN FLORIDA!!!

Sarah, that's awesome, though it sounds like your week might have been pretty stressful, which isn't usually a good time/way to lose weight.  I say that but have gotten to the point at which I'll take a loss whether it's under stress or not...lol

Wow, 10" of snow at this time of year!!  You're most welcome to come walk with me; I'd love to have the company and you'd love the weather... it got up to 81° yesterday and should be about the same today.  You just have to promise to adjust your pace though, because I'm short and can't run to keep up with you... lol
There will be no running!!!  lol
Good, running leaves me tired and in pain so we'd not be able to go spend the rest of the day doing other fun things.  You wouldn't expect to come to Florida and do nothing but walk, would you?  lol
