Did acupuncture cause nerve damage in my leg?

A week ago I got an acupuncture treatment due to tightness in my right hip from working out. During the treatment I felt pulsing in the front of my leg due to one of the needles placed in the thigh but was told it's normal. Ever since the treatment my right quad has been constantly tingling. There is no pain but when after walking once I stop I feel the tingling pulsing sensation that is like a vibration. Even when I sit still or lie down I can still feel my leg vibrating. When I touch the leg there is no soreness and the tingling is coming from inside the leg somewhere.

My acupuncturist told me this is not a normal side effect of acupuncture so now I'm worried I have nerve damage which I know almost nothing about.

If it is nerve damage or irritation will it go away on its own and how long should it take? Do I need to see a specialist or get any tests like an EMG done to find out exactly what is wrong? Also, are there any treatments that help with nerve problems like massage or ultrasound?

If you look at the archives of MedHelp you will see this topic thoroughly discussed.  Nobody seems to have an answer to this, but enough people are complaining about this problem that it seems to be genuine.  Sometimes, what people are getting isn't acupuncture in the traditional sense, it's something called dry needling, which is a deeper penetration with the needle meant to calm a tight muscle.  You can tell, because it hurts to get this and traditional acupuncture doesn't usually hurt because the needle doesn't go very far in.  I do know that when you see a acupuncturist who is US trained, you sign a form that tells you this is a possibility.  I will tell you that EMG tests are almost always negative and almost always disregarded by physicians when you get a negative test -- only the few positive tests mean something.  With that test, they have to get it just right or they miss what they're looking for.  I've had one, and that's why I know this -- my doctor disregarded the test, it was negative, but I probably was having a nerve pinched by my neck anyway and still am.  I don't know what people who get this do when it happens -- I'm guessing time takes care of it, or maybe even more acupuncture does that.  It could be your acupuncturist wasn't good at it or had a bad day.  But In China, there are all sorts of acupuncture treatments that can have pretty dicey outcomes, though you didn't have one of those.  I have no idea what to tell you to do, I can only tell you you're not alone in reporting this problem.
