Antibiotics are strong medicines that treat bacterial infections. Antibiotics won't treat viral infections because they can't kill viruses. Common illnesses caused by bacteria are urinary tract infections, strep throat, and some pneumonia.

Antibiotics cannot treat viral infections, such as cold, flu, and most coughs.

If he has a cold all anyone can do is treat the symptoms. He should rest and keep up his fluids. Antibiotics cannot help a cold only time will. A cold usually runs its course in a week to 10 days. If he has worrying symptoms he should see his doctor.

If he needs to take any medicine he should discuss this with his doctor.

People get colds all the time it is not bad fortune it is just normal life.

Hi there are not a lot of people here any more once they were cured most have moved on.

I didn’t take those specifically but did take the similar med Harvoni.

I was treated 3 times with interferon based meds in the past but had no response to treatment.

I was diagnosed with cirrhosis in 2008 and treated with Harvoni starting in Nov 2014 and finishing my 24 weeks May 2015

I have been cured ever since.

The is much clinical trial data for Sofosbuvir/Velpatasvir (brand name Epclusa) that shows it to be a very effective treatment. Depending on his genotype cure rates were as high as 100% for genotypes 4 and 6 and as low as 95% for genotype 2

For genotype 1 the trial data was a 98% cure rate. This is for patients without cirrhosis.

For patients with advanced decompensated cirrhosis Epclusa should be taken for 12 weeks along with ribavirin.

Cure rates for EPCLUSA ranged from 89% (with prior Hep C treatment and with cirrhosis) to 98% (without prior Hep C treatment and without cirrhosis).

I noticed you posted in the cirrhosis community does your husband have cirrhosis?

I remember your previous posts you were asking about your boyfriend. Have you gotten married to your boyfriend? Congratulations to you both!
Thanks Flyin,
We got engaged after seen eachother  for a year..I love him so much, and I insisted on treatment, but now I am worried about outcome. Therapy has to last 24 weeks and I don t know what are side effects..He has compensated cirrhosis, and he has been treated before,  2 times. His genotype is 3, and he has varices and low platelats also. But he lives healthy life, no sugar, salt, meat..only vegetables, grain and fruit. Suplements,-Cordiceps, Silymarin and we do not know if he Can he continue with Silymarin and Coriceps, during therapy? I am so happy and sad at the same time..happy for finding love of my life, and sad..You know why..Hope dies last..
I have one question about silymarin. Do he has to stop taking it when starting teraphy with epclusa? Somebody told him that sylimarin can slow down teraphy effects on virus, because it cleans liver from everything.. Thanks again!
Most of us avoided taking anything not absolutely needed during treatment to avoid any small chance of interfering with treatment especially since we are treating for only a short period of time. They can’t posdibly test for drug interactions against everything that a patient could consider taking.

At minimum if he wants to take any drug including what you can get without prescription or natural/herbal treatments he should check with his doctor or just wait until treatment is completed.
Thank you!
I ll let you know, when he finish teraphy, how it went..
He started teraphy 3 weeks ago, and now he gets cold..I m in panic, don t know if he can drink antibiotics if he has to? That happened to him when he was on teraphy years ago, now he is so afraid because he think it is his bad fortune...
