How to Get the Best Response for Your Question

Welcome to the Thyroid Disorders community.  In order to get the best response to your question, it would be helpful if you would provide the following information when posting your initial question:

- Reference ranges vary from lab to lab; please include the lab’s reference ranges with all results you post. Reference ranges can, typically, be found directly to the right of results in parenthesis.

- Please provide a description or copy of any ultrasound or imaging reports.

- Please provide a list of symptoms you are experiencing.

- Although thyroid disease is not discriminatory, it strikes women more often than it does men.  It may be helpful if you provide your gender when asking your question as other body functions may be affected, as well.

- Please include any drugs, including thyroid hormone medications, or supplements you are taking.  Some drugs and supplements can affect thyroid function.  Both can also affect (inhibit/enhance) the effects of             thyroid medications.

- Please include other existing conditions, as the same/similar symptoms may exist with multiple conditions, especially, with autoimmune conditions.

- Please provide any other information you think will be helpful to the volunteers answering your question(s).

- Please do *not* include any personally identifying information, such as your full name, birth date, address, phone number, e-mail address, etc.

I am 73 year old male with hypothyroidism.  I am on NP Thyroid 105mg

Lab Results 3/10/21  Free T3: 2.8 pg/mL (2.3-4.2)   Free T4: .58 ng/dl (.61 -1.2)   TSH: .43 mciu/ml (.45 - 3.98)

Is this because of too little medication, or maybe a pituitary problem?

What's your dosage of medication, how long have you been on the dose?  How long after you took your last dose, was the blood draw?

Do you know the cause of your hypothyroidism, such as Hashimoto's?
Diagnosed 9/2013.  Been on 105mg  for about 3 months.  Previously, was on 90mg .  Last dose (15mg) taken at 11:00 pm; blood drawn about
9:00am.  Free FT3 been consistantly between 2.7 and 2.9 since 2017. Had antibodies checked once for Hashimoto's; I did not have Hashimoto's.
