Penis shaft itchy ( red rashes )

It is very itchy at times at the shaft, I am not circumcised and this have not happen to me before, I am currently 24 this year. This has been on going for almost a week and I am worried. I haven gotten the courage to visit a doctor yet. I am suspecting yeast infection and not anything worst. The red rashes is only on the shaft. If anyone can solve and cure for me needs more info i can provide picture through email if need. Thank you.

Balanitis comes to mind.  This is particularly a problem for uncircumcised men as it is harder to keep the area clean.  Sweat, bacteria and dead skin can build up.  It can be itchy, look like what you describe and painful at times.  From what you describe, this sounds like what it probably is.  Can you get to a doctor?
