Is there a long term issue with allergic reaction to CIPRO.

I was prescribed CIPRO I believe it was in 2010 for an infection.  After just taking if for a couple of dosages I broke out in a SEVERE rash and huge whelps on my legs (look like I was beaten with a belt).  I went back to the doctor the next day because the pain was so severe and she put me on a different med.  This rash and whelps continued for a full week with severe pain.  Although, since that time whether I wear shorts or longs pants with either tennis shoes or my work boots to this day when I have been outside working in the yard and I break out is a very harsh red rash and severe burning sensation.  I have had the normal allergic testing done and they all come back normal.  Is there anything that supports this type of long term issue?

There is something that is a long term side effect of taking cipro called serum sickness.  Ugh. However it usually only lasts 7 to 21 days!  I don't know if this is all related but photosensitivity is a side effect of cipro.  And you could have polymorphous light eruption (PMLE) which is a sun rash.  Related?  Could be. Can you ask your doctor about this?
