Nasal bone issue in B-ultrasound - 23W5D

Dear all,

I'm a Chinese, 31ys old, and this is my first pregnancy.Today is 25W4D.
My nt is 1.2mm and low risk (less than 1:35000) for 2nd blood test on 12W1D.

I have a B-ultrasound test when 23W5D in the public hospital I always go for, the tech do the test for 2 times because she siad it's difficult to get the picture because of the baby's position or posture. And the comments in the reporter is Possible absence of Nasal bone.
And then the doctor provide an interview today(25W4D) and ask for amniocentesis test on 25W5D (maybe because of China National Day vacation).

I didn't pay much attention on these knowledge before this issue, somehow after some browse I find that the optional time for me to do other test is very limited...
I will go to a private hospital for a 4d ultrasound on 25W5D(tomorrow) to check the nasal bone again, and I will do the amnio on 25W6D.
I will wait for these results.

But I still worry about something, the doctor told me that even the amniocentesis result is fine, if absence of nasal bone, the risk for the single gene diseases will be much much higher than others without such nasal bone issue, and those diseases are difficult to check out...
So I hope to know if there is any test or anything I can do to help with this, anything I may need to pay attention more due to the nasal bone.
The test freak me out and the pressure push me crazy, your help will be very appriciated.

If you can afford to save those, absolutely, I would.  That's not something a lot of people in the states do just because of the expense and storage but I think it is a really good idea and especially under the situation you have of a bit of scary news at one time during your pregnancy. But it sounds like they feel everything is going to be fine with your baby which is FANTASTIC!  I'm so relieved for you!  Are you still feeling good?

Specialmom, my baby was born on 34W2D.
My amniotic fluid is broken on 35W5D night, but very few drops came out.
The baby is still in hospital, doctor said he can come back home after a few days.
All tests for him show good results, he's just a premature baby. I believe everything will be fine.

That's strange about your internet.  MedHelp is a global website with lots of people from other countries.  ??  Oh well.

So, almost 31 weeks. Yay!!   The good news about that one statistic that worries you is that it is very VERY low even in Chinese.  .05% is less than 1% which makes it rare in China too, I think.  That's statistics and not my specialty.  :>))

anyway, you have done absolutely EVERYTHING you can sweetie to understand and know what is happening.  You've been a good mama already looking after your baby.  So, hang in there.  Now . . . I hate to say this but you may start to have some uncomfortable times very soon with the pregnancy.  My stomach got squished so I had nausea from that and had to eat really small meals.  I also got gerd like you would not believe.  My feet got a bit swollen and I had a lot of lower pressure.  So, prepare yourself that all of this is normal.  Keep us updated with your progress!!

Specialmom, everything is going well, I have done the MRI, and the doctor said there is no great impact from this check since everything is fine by the amniotic test.
I will got the reporter later because I have go to another branch of the hospital which is a little far away from my home.
However, I'm considering to save the umbilical cord blood stem cells and the placenta.
Any comments from you will be very helpful.

I think that this is understandable!  Sincerely, they gave you quite a scare.  Even without that, it's normal to be a  bit worried.  Let me know how the MRI goes!  I'm glad you didn't have nausea.  I had that and it was NOT fun.  So, are you 30 weeks or around there now?

Specialmom, thanks for your help and support!
I'm going to have a MRI test next week due to the advice of the doctor. He said maybe the nasal bone is calcified slow. Anyhow, the amniotic result is good so there should be no more anxious.
Lucky, I feel well, as my mom, I have almost no halo vomit or other disease during the whole course.
To be honest, I'm still a little worried.
Some paper said there is 0.5% Chinese with the no NB features but all is fine, which seems veryvery rare to Westerners

Dear specialmom,
Sorry for the late reply. My family try to keep me away from the internet for peace.
For somehow the hospital provide the amnio 2 weeks later after my visit on 25W6D, and then the whole test reporter cost another 5 weeks' time...
They do a CMA (Gene Chip ) test and a Gene karyotype test with the amniotic fluid. The result shows everything is fine.
All of that take more than 7 weeks...,It's really a long long time, but I'm very glad that the result is good. And really thank you very much!

I'm sorry you are going through this stress!  I have no real words of wisdom except they say 'possible'.  So this is not definite by any means.  There are lots of false positives from prenatal tests ---  had a friend who was told her child most certainly had downs syndrome (extra chromosome) and the baby did not.  So, you get as much info as you can and deal with the news.  Hopefully you will receive good news and this will be cleared up.  So, these tests happen in the next couple of days?

Yes.
I have already do a 4d ultrasound on today, we can not find the nasal bone now. But the noise shows well and it's a high nose.
I will do the amniocentesis on tomorrow.
Seems there are many such kind issues happened in China. I checked most doctors, including mine, will ask for an amniocentesis test for genetic chip. If everything is well for this test, they suggest ignore this issue.
I will do the test and follow the common instruction.
