So, heart rhythm disturbance on statins has been linked. I think I would pronto/quickly call your prescribing physician before taking another tablet. What is your LDL and total cholesterol numbers?
I do not think that Statin drugs directly cause Afib, but from my own experience - and I had been on Statins for many years before they discovered my RBBB and an excessive amount of PACs and PVCs - I am convinced that they are the cause of this. Why? While on Statins I had severe Rhabdomyolysis affecting basically my whole body. After a trip to the ER, because of severe pain in my kidney area, they could not find a cause for this and sent me home with an injection of Dilaudid. I was fine, but after another Vytorin tablet the next evening the pain came back with a vengeance and I was done with Statins for the rest of my life. This happened seven years ago and I never had another event like that, but, in my opinion, if Statins attack muscle tissue why would they not attack the heart and/or the kidneys - they are muscles too? And, in my case screwed up the electrical impulses controlling the heart.
