Antibiotics, Probiotics, and SIBO

I've got a chronic disease called SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth).
Like my relatives, I was never overweight and I never abused drugs, alchohol, etc.
Several of my relatives died young from various gastrointestinal diseases.

There are five antibiotics used very effectively to control SIBO:

clindamycin
metronidazole (Flagyl)
floxins - ciprofloxacin (Cipro, Cipro XR, Proquin XR)
levofloxacin (Levaquin)
trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim, Septra)

I must use antibiotics 5-to-10 days each month.  Obviously, antibiotics kill good
and bad bacteria.  Probiotics restore healthy bacteria.

I've downloaded many documents about SIBO.  There is some disagreement about
taking probiotics with antibiotics.  A few doctors believe that probiotics might
reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics.  They recommend taking probiotics on the
days when you're not taking antibiotics.

Extreme diarrhea and weight loss are common symptoms of SIBO.  Any of the
antibiotics listed above stop the diarrhea and weight loss.  I'm going to take my
probiotics and antibiotics the same day, spaced several hours apart.  If the symptoms
of SIBO return, I'll use probiotics only on the days when I'm not taking antibiotics.

If you have an opinion or suggestion please let me know.

Thanks for the information.  So, this is something others in your family have? What do you do for a diet to help with it?  Dietary changes are said to help too. Can you do things to bolster your immune system overall like a good multi vitamin? My son has had many GI problems including a slow GI tract with lots of constipation.  Probiotics have worked wonders for him creating the normal PH environment.  It would seem like a never ending back and forth with antibiotics and probiotics. Do most people with SEBO not eventually recover to a normal PH in the intestines?
