Heavy bleeding before taking Nuvaring out?

My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex a couple days ago and the Nuva ring slid out. It was actually came out around his penis but I put it back in shortly after. It’s been a couple days and I have started a very heavy period and I’m not supposed to take the ring out until Tuesday. Is this normal?

I put it in right after I saw it came out it was less then 5 minutes. And I am scheduled to take this ring out on tomorrow. I’m just concerned because it was pretty heavy bleeding like my normal period with cramps and everything.

I think you have about three hours to get the ring back in to still be protected from pregnancy.  Did you get it back in that quickly?  Do you insert a new one on schedule every three weeks?

I guess what I'm concerned about is if it was more than three hours and this triggered the bleeding.  Otherwise, break through bleeding can happen on all hormonal birth control.

Any chance you can get checked by your doctor?
