You've already answered this yourself - you've said that you've read it delays it by about 3 weeks. I haven't read a whole lot that supports that, but you seem to believe it, which is fine.
Listen to what Terri says. She is seriously the BEST when it comes to herpes. She has participated in numerous studies, has literally written the book on it. If she says 16 weeks, believe her. I would absolutely trust her with my body and my health.
I don't know what woman you are considering breaking things off with, but if it's because you think you have herpes, don't. Get some help for anxiety first. That's really the issue here.
Thank you for your response. I've actually ordered the western blot and will put it all to rest after. I've read that igG picks up infections before western blot. Is this true? I've also tested negative at 16 wks. The only reason I'm not satisfied is because of my child hood hsv1 infection. How long does it slow down seroconversion time? This thing is consuming my life and I'm engaged and made a horrible mistake. I'm ready to break it off with this girl over this. I can hold her off for so long. I'll more than likely get another igG test while waiting on the western blot. I plan to do the western blot at around 18 wks. Terri Warren said 16 wks is more than enough time for the test. It takes about 2 to 3 wks for results and like I said for a peice of mind I plan to retest at around 19 20 wk post exposure. Thank u so much for the informative response.

Here is my response to you from an earlier response:
"I haven't read much that supports hsv1 delaying hsv2, but even if we go with that, you could test at 20 weeks instead of 16 and be totally confident in your results.
Most will test positive by 6 weeks, so your negative at 13 weeks is a great indication. The slight burning you feel wouldn't be due to herpes unless you've had an actual outbreak. Have you spoken to your doctor about that?"
You've tested 11 times. That's way too many. Your anxiety is through the roof. You need to start addressing that, and stop worrying about herpes. If you do have it, your life won't change all that much in the big scheme of things. Your friend had it for years and didn't even know, right?
Get off the internet, talk to your doctor about anxiety, and LIVE YOUR LIFE. Make a reminder to test at 20 weeks, and them move on from this.
