HIV Risk

Hi everyone,

About 4 weeks ago a lady gave me oral sex, I’m a man. We kissed, I licked her breast, and rubbed her vagina on the outside. She was on her period so I didn’t penetrate her. Also I didn’t perform oral sex on her.

Now my question is, I don’t think there were blood or sores in her mouth, her oral health looked in really good condition. But I am uncircumcised. I read that this puts a man at greater risk for getting hiv? What is my risk of getting hiv from this above scenario? I am completely sure I was hiv negative before this “exposure”? Can I move on with my life with 100% certainty that I did not get hiv from this? And do I have to test at exactly 28 days?? Please advise

Thanks in advance

I agree with Mike.  You seem to not want to accept that oral sex is not a risk.  Testing time frames are irrelevant as you don't need to test for HIV.  Wear a condom for vaginal or anal sex and don't share IV drug needles and you will never have to worry about HIV. 4th Duo tests are conclusive at 28 days and beyond.  But you need to move on now.

You can't get HIV from anything that you have mentioned today.

Below are the only risk for HIV transmission:
1. Unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse
2. Sharing needles - PWID
3.Transmission through blood transfusion. (This is rare as most blood products and blood transfusion are subjected to preliminary screening.)

You do not need to test.

Thanks for your swift response!! So being uncircumcised makes no difference at all? Then another thing I would like to clarify, can a negative rapid antibody test at 6-8 weeks be conclusive as Dr Hansfield suggests??
Doesn't change any thing. Testing timeframe is irrelevant to you since you didn't have a risk, any time you would take a test would yield a negative result. You don't need to test.
Thank you Mike, after reading your response it feels as if I can breathe again! All the information stating receiving oral sex is a low risk exposure didn’t do my anxiety good!
Stop reading about HIV online right away. It does more bad than good, I'm going to tell that from being here for more than a decade. You're okay, everything is fine.
Thanks again Mike, I will continue life knowing I’m hiv negative as I’ve always been. This forum is excellent!!
Hi there, I don’t mean to overpost or be a pain in the a$$ about testing, but just out of curiosity and for future reference. If I test negative between 6-8 week with a rapid antibody test is it conclusive? I don’t seem to find a straight answer anywhere. And how accurate are a 4 week negative rapid antibody test? Taking into account the person testing is not on any medication or drugs...
