Has anyone ever had a sore spot on one side of neck/throat due to acid reflux?

I get a sore spot on the right side of my neck/throat that comes and goes. Sometimes if I press on that spot on my neck/throat it's tender. I have also noticed sometimes when I bend over it feels worse. Has anyone else ever experienced this? My doctor wants me to start taking Zantac everyday which I am worried about due to possible long term effects of this medicine. I have myself convinced that I have some kind of cancer in my throat or neck but my doctor assures me if that was the case it would have gotten much worse by now since I have been feeling this on and off for at least 2-3 years. I suppose that makes sense but I'm a worry wart when it comes to health stuff. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I understand.  I'm always careful about starting medicine too.  There are over the counter medications that work pretty well such as Pepcid or Tagamet.  I've taken both of those as has my teenage son.  Without hesitation I would suggest those are pretty safe.

Your doctor is probably right.  If you don't want to take zantac, there are other medications to try .  What about trying something else?

Thank you for responding. I have just heard so much about these types of acid controllers causing alzheimers disease among a miriad of other health issues. I have also just heard that they can increase anxiety and I am already anxious enough. Ugh!
