Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. This really is an excellent question. We recommend everyone have an annual physical and discuss this with their doctors. Controlling weight and eating habits benefits health in multiple ways. Since this is the cholesterol forum, we'll discuss this. First, please note that exercise is an important part of controlling cholesterol. This is because our "good" cholesterol or HDL is directly affected by exercise. The number will go up which in turn lowers our overall cholesterol ration balancing out the "bad" cholesterol or LDL. So, regular exercise is an essential part of any plan if your doctor approves you to do this.
Tamara has a good idea with packing lunches. It allows you to control what you eat without any 'impulse' purchases that weight heavy on your diet plan. And it also allows you to control the portions.
Here are some other ideas: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/in-depth/reduce-cholesterol/art-20045935. Diet wise, watching the type of fat you eat is important. Processed foods are something to avoid. Opt for more vegetables and salads. Lean meats, etc. For snacks, try air popped popcorn or pretzels. That type of thing.
We're happy to help you any way we can!
I pack my food for the day and when the box is empty I'm out of luck
