Finally Got Rid of Invisible Biting Insects

Why are doctors so quick to tell people it's a psychological problem and even prescribe psych meds to patients who complain about feeling invisible bugs crawling on their skin? The bugs are REAL and they are invisible until you know what to look for!!

A month ago I started feeling the sensation of bugs crawling all over my body, especially at night: In my hair, on my face, in my eyes, nose, and ears. I could even feel them flying into my mouth and down my throat. NOTHING WAS THERE. Was I going crazy? No. They're real, they're called "No See Ums" and that name is an umbrella term for a whole bunch of teeny-tiny bugs, so tiny you can barely see them because they're as small, or smaller, than the tip of a sharp pencil.

I tried EVERYTHING. I washed everything that was washable in hot water and dried everything in the dryer. I used heat: I ironed my mattress and every item of clothing. I bought a steamer and steamed furniture and surfaces I couldn't iron. I also used the "kill them with cold" method by lowering my air conditioner to 60 degrees. I froze my butt off but the bugs still survived, and the heat didn't get rid of the infestation either.

I showered with tea tree oil soap and sprayed original listerine all over my body and then rinsed. I sprayed 91% alcohol on myself and on everything. I placed vinegar traps throughout the house, sticky bug tape, etc. I vacuumed everything including the air (hoping to suck them up)! I rubbed Avon Skin-So-Soft on my skin, I spent a small fortune on "natural" bug repellents and essential oils that are supposed to kill and/or repel insects. I cleaned EVERYTHING floor to ceiling.

NOTHING WORKED! Some things would make the infestation better for a day or two but the invisible little critters would come back with a vengeance. As it turns out, they're not invisible at all once you know what to look for. They look like dust or grains of sugar or hard black, brown, white, or translucent specks of sand.

What FINALLY got rid of them was very simple and inexpensive:

I showered right before I went to bed because it's at night that these bugs seem to attack the worst. I rinsed my hair with white vinegar (fantastic for your hair btw - better than hair conditioner), combed it through and really massaged it into my scalp before rinsing thoroughly. And then I used Noxema original all over my body (face to feet) as a moisturizer. I don't know if it's the smell of the Noxema but it kept the bugs away better than everything else combined that I tried. I also ironed all my clothes, including my underwear, right before putting them on even if I had ironed them after I washed them. If you can't iron something, stick it in the dryer while you shower. That's what worked to keep myself from getting bitten and to stop that horrible creepy-crawly sensation on your skin, especially while you're trying to sleep!

To get rid of them from my home, I used Lysol Spray. I sprayed it everywhere (not on dishes or food obviously): On my mattress, in the air, on every surface imaginable including the carpets.

This combination of Noxema on my body, white vinegar rinse in my hair, and Lysol everywhere in my home, is what FINALLY got rid of the invisible biting gnats known as Noseeums. It took a week but the microscopic little demons from hell are finally gone!

So if you feel like bugs are crawling on your skin, even if you're not being bitten (yet), don't let anyone tell you you're crazy or imagining it (unless you ARE crazy and imagining it lol - kidding!!). And don't spend a small fortune on expensive things, just get yourself a jar of ORIGINAL Noxema and use it like a face and body moisturizer (soothes insect bites too!) every day, rinse your washed hair with white vinegar (it will leave your hair super soft and shiny too!), and buy your favourite scent of Lysol Spray an spray it everywhere but don't inhale it or spray it around food or eating utensils, children or pets. Use common sense, obviously, and read and follow the instructions.

GOOD LUCK! Hope this helps someone.

The "spider deterrent pouch" says it's rosemary, lemongrass, citronella,  almond and sunflower oils, and corn cob.  Is that what you're talking about?  Though the spider version would make sense with Springtails.

Thanks for the tips glad you got rid of them but what you ha were most likely Collumbola/Springtails not actually Noseeums (which are a type of biting gnat)  Springtails don't actually bite bu they do burrow into your skin to lay eggs, and are attracted to all your moist parts like your mouth, nose, ears, privates, wet hair etc. to do the same and they are very active at night.  They are microscopic and look like grains of sugar unless magnified.  They have little tails they use to spring which feels like a stinging bite on your skin as an adult and the nymphs crawl.  They are very resilient and can survive both cold and hot temps but vinegar is one of the things that kills them along with some essential oils like cedarwood oil and clove oil.  Some people get a terrible rash from them and most doctors and dermatologists will not admit they cause any health risk to humans despite known reports as far back as 1955 that they were infesting humans and animals.  People are told they have delusional parasitosis and prescribed antispychotics bc the CDC will not admit they are wrong.  Many people have committed suicide because they were so infested.  It can be hell so it's great you beat it.  I fought it for 6 months and had a 3 year reprieve and now they are back.  Not fun.  People who are immune suppressed or have Lyme Disease or a fungal infection are very susceptible bc they are attracted to fungus and if there is any standing water, fungus or mold or potted plants on your property or in your home that is another high risk factor for these critters.  They love these things and a high humidity environment.  Keep the home as dry as possible.  No potted plants.  No mold or standing water.

Thanks for the info!
It’s the worst. It’s so upsetting that Drs won’t help. I have been doing a natural parasite cleanse and absolutely no sugar diet. It’s been better but not gone completely.
I see why people kill themselves. It’s rough.

id be maybe weeks away from not being able to do it anymore. no one should ever have to go through what we are going through! this started for me the first week of june last year so 8 months now. im in Harahan Louisiana so if its these springtails that i just read about. then this is the perfect place for them to thrive. iv not had one moment of peace since this started as im sure you all know! for me its everywhere i go... iv gone as far as 50 miles from my home and was still being swarmed. it feels like millions of them are swarming me ever few hrs almost on the dot but at the same time they are so unpredictable! sometimes rain makes them worse sometimes not. but right now with the temp going from 70's to 40's every few days it feels like they are killing me. they bite so hard i feel like im goinf to pass out. and when they swarm most of the time i cant breathe at all. im gonna try everything i just read about and if anything works i will post immediately!!! good luck to all of you my heart pours out for you guys!
