Blood samples in office

Hello, went for blood work at quest diagnostics a few weeks back. I noticed a couple blood filled vacutainers already in the room where my exam was being performed, on the counter across from me on a tray that could’ve held more tubes.

I’m wondering if this is normal for any health care center? For another individuals specimen to be around another patient? Thank you.

I don’t recall if my sample was added to the holster after blood was drawn but I’m concerned of any health code violations

Quest diagnostics is a big operation. They, I am certain, follow protocol.  It's a lab. They likely collect specimens, label them properly and then place them in the holding trays. Then those are collected when filled to be taken for the appropriate tests.  In no way would this put any patients at risk.

What were you being tested for at the lab?

A series of test called “exam one” for life insurance.
Move on from this somewhat odd idea that you have discovered how Quest medical staff should operate. Quest does maybe 1 billion tests per year, so you are mistaken when you think you know more than their lab personnel. You don`t even work in a lab.
I understand but being a black man in this country for the first time im finding a sense of paranoia
That should not make you think other people do not know how to do their jobs.
If you cannot stop thinking like this, then see a therapist to deal with the paranoia.

Quest doesn't give hiv to their patients going for blood tests. It is unrealistic for you to think that someone there doesn't know how to do their job and is reliant on you (who doesn't have any medical training) to tell them how to do their job.
