What is this painful bump above my suture scar?

About 6 weeks ago I sustained a bad and bloody cut on the side of my left knee. The sutures were removed a few days too early and the wound ripped open the same day. It healed well but a very painful hard bump developed right above the scar.
When examined it feels like an inch long cylindrical object with a sharp end right under the skin. It stabs me whenever I bend my knee or put my pants on. I feel a very sharp, lingering pain on and around it when I squat or bend my knee too agressively. The formation touches the scar but the scar itself doesn't hurt at all.
It's been restricting me for about a month now, I am unable to perform some basic cleaning tasks at home and getting dressed is painful. I can't run at all, it makes me feel a sharp stabbing pain with every step. What is that thing? Should I wait for my appointment?

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Sorry you are having this difficulty after your surgery.  It is best to check in with your surgeon to see if they want to see you sooner.  What this could be is something called a post surgical seroma.  Basically it is a build up of fluid where tissue was removed and people can get them along incisions. https://www.healthline.com/health/seroma#complications  The fact that it is painful means it needs evaluation.  It may require needle aspiration if it is a seroma.  Or they may manage it a different way but your doctor is best to guide you.

It could also be a lymphocele.  Or an abscess.

So, please do follow up and let us know what the doctor says.  All the best to you.
