Tons of bumps on the very back of my tongue that appeared out of no where

I noticed it felt like it was hard for me to swallow. Somewhat of a sore throat. I looked in the mirror and stuck my tongue out, and behind the normal four bumps I have on the back of my tongue I saw a village of bumps. No bleeding, just a bunch of red bumps. I went to my primary care who just took a quick glance. She said it was my taste buds and probably something viral and to give it a week. I’ve been gargling with warm salt water twice a day. It’s been three days and I see no improvement. It causing me major stress and anxiety. I feel like I have a lump in my throat due to this “village”. Has anyone had this before? Is it normal? I need to be at ease. PLEASE & THANK YOU

Saw a village of bumps.  lol  You're funny in your description.  But I'm sure you aren't thrilled to see this.  I'd give it the full week your doctor suggested before getting very worried.  Are they white by chance?  Could you have thrush? https://www.webmd.com/oral-health/guide/what-is-thrush#1  That's info on oral thrush to see if your symptoms match.  Basically it is a fungus of the mouth, good times.  White, slightly raised area is a sig of oral thrush.  They can culture it (just swab it) and will know.
