Your question has been answered that the 90 day mark was the point at which your HIV test was conclusive. As you tested negative at 91 days, our members have accurately stated these results are conclusive.

You don't have HIV. 6 month is unnecessary.

Hello all,

Im here to update my test result.

1st test : 72 days post exposure : Negative.

2nd test : 91 days post exposure : Negative.

Planning 3rd test : at 6 month post exposure.

Are my result is conclusive ?
Because some information said after test at 90 days we have to test again the next 3 month. It is 3 month test post exposure is not conclusive ?

Can you all give me some enlightment ? Thanks you so much.

Hello all,

Sorry to bother you all again. Ive have take a test with this “one step” HIV home test kit. In my 76 days post exposure. I know the conclusive test in 90 days (2 weeks more) but im to anxious to wait, so i get tested and the result came back NEGATIVE.

1. Do you think there is a false negative  if we tested before 90 days ?

2. Is it possible the negative result on 76 days after exposure can be turn on positive in the next 2 week (90 days) after exposure ?

Thanks for the response

I personally have never heard of 'one step' and would not know how conclusive its result is after day 60. I suggest you test again at day 90 or approach test centres with 4th Gen kits and get a conclusive result.

Hello,
Im from indonesia. One step home kit test is common in here. I just wondering to know its home test kit like this is have a same accurate and valid result like in the lab test ?
Most home test kits are reliably accurate when taken at prescribed time periods after exposure. Am sure this 'One Step' kit would be having an instruction catalogue inside the packaging and you should be able to see from there at what point does it give you accurate results after exposure. Stay well.
Thanks mamamia. Im 8 week after exposure today. I’ll have wait 3 weeks more to get test. Its very stressful waiting. :(
You don't have to wait 3 weeks. Just go to a lab and get a 4th generation duo test and you'll get your results a lot faster. I'm sure there are labs in Indonesia who do the test, just go find one! What are you waiting for?!?

Most home testing kits are usually recommended to have a 90 days window period.

At this point, a standard (Lab based) HIV test will give you a definitive result.

So home testing kit is not reliable to valid result ?

Is there is a conclusive test before 90 days exposure ? 60 days maybe ?
As Mike stated, most home tests have a 90-day window period.  If you are not sure, call the manufacturer or visit their web site.  There is no way that we can possibly know the details about every brand of home test on the market.
