What could cause multiple hard, swollen, lymph nodes in the neck under the jaw?

I had frequent throat infections for about six months. Now I have 6 swollen lymph nodes in my neck below my jaw. There are two larger ones bigger than 1.5 CM and two smaller ones near each large one confirmed by CT scan. They are hard and moveable, but my ENT said they are difficult to move. They have been there for about three months. I have been very tired, losing hair at the hairline, short of breath, mild sore throat constantly, cough,  but I haven’t had any night sweats or weight loss. I’m scheduled to have a biopsy soon, but I don’t think I have cancer. What else could it be? I am 32/F.

Hi, it's probably fibrosis (scar tissue). Whatever infection gets in the throat could have also gotten into the nodes. When an immune system battle occurs right inside nodes, the result can be fibrosis left behind. (There can also be calcification, but the CT would have easily seen that.)

I would want to be sure that the pathologist looks for not only cancer cells in the biopsy sample, but also for the real cause of the infection/inflammation - else you'll be left in mystery.

Btw, I don't think you have cancer, either. The other explanation is far more likely.
