Possible Oral Cancer from HPV

Ok, I made dumb decisions in the past regarding oral sex (my post history is high anxiety).

Anyways, oral cancer has always been a concern, but now I'm experiencing odd symptoms. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this.  It feels like something is in the back of my throat on the right side when I swallow spit. Pain in the right ear, right jaw and in the back of right eye.  No pain when eating. I googled (yep!) and it seems like glossopharyngeal neuralgia. I came across a story that said base of tongue cancer can cause this.  I've been seeing an ENT who thinks it's LPR, but this right side business seems like it could something more sinister.

If it is cancer from HPV it would have developed in 6 or 5 years, but I'm a stressor especially in the last 6 years so it could have expedited everything easy.
I got my throat scoped earlier this year, but I plan on making an appointment with the ENT tomorrow to see if anything else can be done.  It was difficult finding anything thay matched my symptoms until I read about glossopharyngeal neuralgia.

Hello and welcome to the cancer forum. Thank you for your question.  Please see the ENT for evaluation.  Although, I would imagine the ENT you already had been working with would be on top of diagnosing anything especially something serious like cancer.  There are over 200 strands of HPV and most are harmless.  But yes, there is a link to oral cancers.  Here's a list of symptoms of oral cancer:

An ulcer or sore that does not heal within 2-3 weeks
A red, white, or black discoloration on the soft tissues in the mouth
Difficult or painful swallowing. A sensation that things are sticking in the throat when swallowing
A swollen but painless tonsil. When looking in the mouth, tonsils on both sides should be symmetrical in size
Pain when chewing
A persistent sore throat or hoarse voice
A swelling or lump in the mouth
A painless lump felt on the outside of the neck, which has been there for at least two weeks.
A numb feeling in the mouth or lips
Constant coughing
An ear ache on one side (unilateral) which persists for more than a few days.

You do not describe any of those symptoms.

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/15799-glossopharyngeal-neuralgia-gpn  This link provides information on glossophyaryngeal neuralgia.  That's a neurological issue which is very rare.

Please let us know the outcome of your doctor's visit.
