What does it mean to have an abnormal yolk sac?

At my first ultrasound I was told my baby was measuring where it should for 6 weeks and 3 days. It had a healthy heart beat at 121 bpm. However, I was then told my yolk sac was abnormal, more bean shaped than round. I was also told I have a hematoma. When I was told all this I panicked and didn’t get to ask more questions. Can someone tell me what this means? Why it happens? I will be having another ultrasound in a week.

Hi dear, Don't get panic. Irregular yolk sac shape is unrelated to an increased risk of spontaneous abortion.  Just take a regular check-up for it but, you have to look after your hematoma issue. Not all hematomas in pregnancy are dangerous. Try to avoid any situations that put you on stress.
Lack of exercise, on the other hand, can negatively affect the muscular system and even the mental state of you.

Try not to worry.  Please.  But I know that is hard.  Call the doctors office and ask questions via the phone.  Make a list of what you want to know and you DO have a right for some follow up questions.  There are higher incidences of issues when a yolk sac is not properly shaped.  A higher incidence of spontaneous miscarriage, for example.  But that is not always the case.  Having a hematoma also increases risk of miscarriage.  Again, both do not absolutely happen.  But you are at higher risk.  Call and talk to your doctor and let me know what they say.  hugs
