Hello adi2021.  Thank you for your question.  I most certainly would talk to your doctor about this. Your medication may require a modification as 500 mg twice daily of Metformin is the typical starting dose  It is often increased to 850mg twice daily. Obviously, talk to your doctor about this. https://www.drugs.com/dosage/metformin.html  Your fasting glucose levels seem too high.  https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317466  That is excellent that you are walking!  And if you are also partaking in a healthy diet, even better. Managing weight is something we can do to help with our type 2 diabetes.  Let us know when you next see your doctor.

I have found that doctors are not always the best source for diabetic foods.  Seek out a diabetes nutritionist, articles aimed at the proper foods for diabetics; diabetes groups that pass out literature on meal planning, etc.

Good luck!

I take 1000mg of Metformin daily and have for 11 years.  It has helped control my diabetes until this past year.  Are you counting your carbohydrate intake and keeping it within the recommended amount every day?

That's great!!  I'm glad your diabetes is controlled. Can I ask you what else you do besides the medication.  Is that enough or do you also eat a special diet, have to maintain a specific weight, etc.?

Hi,

Considering that normal fasting should be < 95 and post eating ideally less than 140, your levels are still too high, despite your exercise and current medication.

You may discuss medications with your doctor.

You may also wish to investigate the use of a low carbohydrate diet.  This diet will be very low in carbohydrates, which are replaced with healthy unprocessed fats, and with adequate protein.  While vegetables such as corn and potato should be avoided, most other vegetables are fine to eat if you choose to try low carb.

Please come back and let us know what you try and how you are going.
