5 weeks and bleeding

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and I noticed a watery-like light red bleeding 2 days ago. I consulted my doctor and he prescribed susten 400 (to be vaginally inserted for 7 days at night) & Duphaston 10 (to be orally taken twice a day for 7 days). I started taking both of these medications from yesterday night. But today morning I noticed a darker red bleeding that's it. Now I don't have bleeding. But I'm really worried since it was darker than earlier. My doctor asked me to get admitted if the bleeding continues. What could be the reason behind this darker bleeding? Is it an early sign of a miscarriage? Please help me.. This is my first pregnancy.

Gosh, I hope everything is okay.  In sincerity, I doubt they'd admit you this early as at 5 weeks, lots of women are just finding out they were even pregnant. They would often term this a chemical pregnancy as it would be a very early miscarriage.  I'm so sorry if that is happening but it sounds like they are waiting to see. Sadly, one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage and it can be for no reason at all.  Once you make it to 12 to 13 weeks, you are normally good for a pregnancy that goes to completion. Until then, at any time you can have a miscarriage.  Are they going to do blood work and start tracking your HCG? With all of this said, MANY women have bleeding in early pregnancy.  It is not abnormal even though it is scary.  Miscarriage comes to mind but so often that is not the case.  I had early pregnancy bleeding (looked like a period) and my friends have as well.  So, keep in touch with your doctor and if you bleed again, call them.  In about 3 to 4 weeks, you can check for heart beat.  But they 'could' check hcg levels to make sure they are tracking now, I believe.  Talk to your doctor about that.  I would guess all is fine but it is still really early.  hugs
