Extremely high AST & ALT

Hi there. My mom was throwing up with a painful abdomen about 2 weeks ago. Doctor ordered labs and CT scan. CT scan came back normal but her AST and ALT were extremely high (in the 800 and 900's). Bilirubin at 2.7. She then had an ultrasound done. They said she doesn't have cirrhosis, but she does have fatty liver. They ruled out hepatitis, gallbladder, and pancreas issues. They said lifestyle changes should reverse the damage but it could take awhile. Fast forward 2 weeks...she has stopped all alcohol consumption (she still smokes cigarettes), and eating healthy. She is still nauseous and very fatigued. She had labs drawn again. Her AST and ALT have continued dropping to the 500's, but her bilirubin is up to 4.1. She is back in ER and they are probably going to admit her. What's going on? I'm so scared for her.
